chapter one

"you're gonna wish you... never ever met me."

Marin Harvey, pogue princess. She was the it girl of the cut, nobody messed with her. Except for, well... him.

chapter one -

I yawned, soaking in the unmatched comfort of John B's old couch. As I sat up I scratched the top of my head, looking around for Kie.

"Mornin' Marin." John B greeted as he walked towards his back deck. "Morning." I respond shortly, watching him rush out the screen door. He put his hands on the back of his head, "Oh. that's not good. Not good."

Oh shit, Agatha. I quickly jump up to my feet, as dust bounces up from his couch. I walk outside, adjusting my bikini strap from yesterday and look out at his yard.

John B was slowly moving large tree branches off of the HMS pogue.

"Holy shit JB, the pogue got destroyed." I slightly chuckle as he shoots me a dirty look. "Okay, not in that type of mood today." I mumble under my breath.

"Agatha's a bitch." JJ sighs, walking out the screen door. "Morning loser, where's Kie?" I ask he as he daps me up.

He looked away, clearly irritated. "Helpin' Pope and his Pops with clean up." I raise an eyebrow. "Okay, just a question." I raise my hands in the air and pause. "Wait. You're not jealous, are you Maybank?" I mock.

JJ scoffs, "A good wingman would never be jealous for his boy." He says, patting my shoulder. "Pfft. Okay." I laugh.

It's a couple hours later and I'm about to start my shift at the country club. Working there was hardly bearable, but believe it or not, my looks gave me enough tips to pay for half my rent.

I tied my long bleach blonde hair into two messy braids and began my shift.
It was even more crowded than usual, the was restaurant drowning in insanley rich assholes.

After 2 hours of taking orders around the restaurant, my shift finally ended. Just in time apparently.

As I left the doors of the country club, the kings of Kooks roll up in their Range Rovers. I roll my eyes and walk to the twinky. I never had my own car and with work being so busy, John B lets me drive his when I need it.

And just as I was about to back out of my spot, Rafe Cameron knocks on my window.

"Damn, I thought you were working tonight. That's a shame you can't serve us." He shoves the car, making it shake more than it should.
"Fuck off, Rafe." I put the car in reverse and flip him off as he smirks.

He always does that cocky smile to piss me off when I am already mad. Rafe and I never got along. Most Kooks leave me alone, considering I broke Kelce's nose and wrist last summer. But Rafe would never leave anyone alone, he just sees me as competition.

The next morning I biked over to Sarah's house to hangout. It was a long ride from the cut, but on early summer mornings it was so worth it. Once I pulled in their driveway I already heard #ImSippinTeaInYoHood by XXTENTATION blasting in their three car garage.

"Who could that be?" I mumble to myself and scoff. His whole personality made my blood boil, but he listens to wannabe frat boy music too? Yikes.

As I walk in their home I give Sarah a long hug. Sarah was always one of my best friends, even though the pogues didn't like her. Especially Kiara.

"Hey Marin!" She squeals. "I know it's June but you already look so tan!"
"Yeah, I heard on the south side you get more sun." I shrug as Sarah laughs and smacks me.

We spent the whole afternoon tanning, laughing, and catching up on each others drama.

"I'm gonna refill my water, be right back." Sarah sits up in her lounge chair and heads inside. "Oh shit! Lola, no!"

I sit up in concern to see a golden retriever headed for the pool and Sarah jumps in after her. "Go grab her leash please!" She yelps while struggling to hold Lola up in the water. "I left it on the Druthers!"

"Got it-" I yell and sprint to the dock. Damn I should do track.

I jump on the boat and start searching for the leash. With no luck, I climb up to the upper level to find the last person I want to see. Rafe.
