description

It was supposed to be two weeks. It wasn't the first time they swapped places.

After receiving an email from her sister, True uproots her life, and travels to the island of San Bernadette. She would do anything for Henrietta even take her place and share a bed with a stranger.

It was supposed to be two weeks so Henrietta can say goodbye to her son on the mainland. Two weeks so True could finally make amends for destroying their lives as children. But things are rarely ever as they seem.

As True lives the life of a woman she hadn't heard from in twelve years, secrets about the woman she calls sister begin to unearth themselves, some more sinister than others. And because it has the habit of coming when it is least wanted, love makes itself part of the equation.

Christella's potentially very comprehensive note

• This book is based on the telenovelas ¿Quién Eres Tú? which in turn is based on the telenovela La Usurpadora. Which really means this is based on La Usurpadora in my world. I decided to do this after I remembered that I saw a person post a story they wrote based on the Argentinian telenovela Esperanza Mía (which is a 10/10 show by the way) and I thought, if they can do it so can I, so I decided to do this.

If you haven't watched La Usurpadora, or any of the telenovelas based on it, it's basically the story of two twin sisters who haven't seen each other in a long time. And the evil one decides to kill the other and just like run away with her husband's money, and use that to fake her own death.

Anyway, this is my way of paying homage to the show that made me fall in love with telenovelas (¿Quién Eres Tú?). Natalia Garrido, I love the gaslighting girlboss that you are. And Felipe De Esquivel love you down too, but I sincerely hopes that Natalia would fall in love with Iván Cuellar instead (which is kind of where this idea came from).

• I don't know if San Bernadette is a real place. But for the purpose of this book it is not and is completely different from any potentially existing country named San Bernadette that happens to be an island.

• It's actually set in the universe of two other books I'm working on: Blood Brothers and The End of Loneliness (title subject to change as soon as I come up with one I like better)

• The events of this book happen sometime before the events of Blood Brothers and about two years after The End Of Loneliness (title subject to change as soon as I find one I like better, preferably starting with the letter b)

• Where I know the plot of this work and the show it's based on is kind of unhinged, I will be trying to drag the story back down to Earth a little bit. Maybe a bit less murder and explosions and drug cartels but keep the twisted lies.

• It goes without saying that the events of this book are purely fictional.

• The title of this book (which I love) is inspired by the title of a memoir I don't plan on reading called If I Had Your Face, and I thought with the plot putting a spin on that title would be very fitting since True and Henrietta literally have the same face.

• Lastly, please just have fun reading this because I intend to have fun writing it.
