The night had gone by smoothly, for the most part. Only a few times did Philip wake up in the pitch-black room and look over at the calmly breathing body on the mattress next to his. Philip was admittedly very scared with the sleepover, despite not putting any fight against it. After all, [Name] was unpredictable and evil at his core! There was nothing good or innocent about him! Philip felt like a fool, accepting a witch to sleep beside him. He just couldn't wait for morning to come and for the boy to leave, never to be seen again.
When morning did arise and Philip woke up, he didn't see [name] anymore. The only evidence of his existence for Philip was in the form of the sloppily made mattress next to his own. Had he left already? Philip was happy at the thought, but still felt a little betrayed for not even getting a note saying farewell and how much they had together... Wait, no he didn't! What a ridiculous thought.
Philip stood up, stretched and fixed his sleep clothes to look presentable. He walked to the kitchen, where to his dismay, he saw [name] happily conversing with and helping Evelyn with making breakfast. His head turned towards the kitchen entrance, hearing Philip's footsteps. He stepped off the stool placed in front of the kitchen counter and cheerily walked over.
"Good morning, Philip! Did you sleep well? Me and Evelyn are making breakfast for all of you!" He attacks Philip with a bunch of sentences.
"Wha- ..." Philip takes a moment to rub his eyes, still a bit disoriented from waking up. "Yeah... Yeah, I did. What are you making? And why are you still here?"
"Uhm... I'm not sure actually. I'm just doing what she's asking me to. But it does involve griffin eggs and loads of fruit and berries!" [Name] smiles. "And what do you mean 'why are you still here'? Why wouldn't I still be here?"
"... No reason! I just thought since you weren't... In bed." Philip tried his best to be kind and ignore his distaste for [name].
The other nods understandingly. "I see... Well, I hope you're hungry! Me, and mainly Evelyn, worked really hard to make breakfast tasty! You'll love it!"
"Right... Thanks."
Breakfast tasted fine, just like every other morning. Philip hated the idea of dining with witches, eating food made by witches, or even food that was from the world of witches, but he tried to be grateful. In the human realm, the brothers barely had enough money to get by and didn't always get to have breakfast, and when they did, it was lacking in taste and variety.
"Where's Caleb?" Philip asks, looking at Evelyn.
"He's still asleep, I'm afraid. You'll have to wake him up after you've eaten so he gets some breakfast too." She answers after chewing and swallowing her food down, pointing the fork at Philip. "So make sure not to eat it all!" It was a playful taunt, but even still it annoyed Philip.
"Okay. And why's [name] not eating?"
"I am eating!"
"No, you aren't! You're drinking a... glass of cranberry juice? That's not eating!"
Evelyn laughs at their banter and opens her mouth to explain, but [name] beats her to it.
"This isn't juice, it's blood! So I am eating."
Phillip almost drops his utensil. "... W-what?"
"What? Why'd you freeze like that?"
"[name]-" Evelyn starts but shakes her head. "Philip, [name] is-"
Before anything could be explained, Philip runs away from the kitchen in a panic, all of his hunger and appetite lost. He runs to Caleb's and Evelyn's shared bedroom since he knew that's where Caleb was. He locks the door behind him and shakes his brother awake. "Caleb! Caleb, wake up- wake! up!"
