An ungrateful meeting. 5

The next day, both me and Paimon went to the adventurer’s guild to get some requests done to guarantee at least some more.
i was cycling through some quests…”gather for me please some flowers for my pots”, “there are some ingredients i need, gather me some potatoes”,”help me keep track of my animals to not get lost in the woods” and stuff.
Sam: why don’t these people do that themselves? it's such an easy one.
i shrugged, seeing these quests more of people just being lazy from doing their tasks.
then my eyes laid upon one interesting quest, “there is some hilichurls and an abyss mage making trouble near the entrance of the thousand winds temple ruins” said the description of the quest.
Sam: “abyss mage? what even is an abyss mage?”
my mind wondered, staring at such a quest for too long that even Paimon noticed it and spoke up.
Paimon: Sam? You alright? Do you want to do this quest?
the flying fairy asked, and i quickly got out of my mind
Sam: Ah i’m fine Paimon, just wondering about something not important.
i quickly excused, making Paimon suspect fo a moment, before ignoring it
Sam: Let's go, i wanna see this temple ruins this quest talks about.
I said, quickly running off from the adventurer’s guild and out of Mondstadt city as Paimon followed me.

Eventually, we reached a small hill that had a dirt road path leading up further into the hill, and i immediately followed the road’s path, which led me to see some old ruins up ahead.

While running up the hill, i could see from a distance a big old tree in some plains, and a statue of the seven.
Then, we arrived at the place said quest told us, with me and Paimon already seeing our focus.
We hid behind some rocks and saw the enemies, 5 hilichurls, two weird light green hilichurls and a fluffy creature of blue color, floating around while holding what appears to be a wand.
Sam: “That must be the abyss mage the quest told about”

Paimon: OH! Sam there is an abyss mage ahead-
She said a bit too loud, which made me cover up her mouth with my hand to lower her volume.
unfortunately, the enemies heard us and started heading towards our location.
Sam: Paimon, stay here, i’ll deal with this.
i sighed, as i then quickly jump out of the hiding spot and threw my elemental skill at them, sucking all of them in one place.
i could see the abyss mage create a barrier of water around itself and start attacking me with water magic.

I quickly dodged the water and ran towards the acumulated group of enemies and unsheathed my sword, slashing them many, many times, before sheathing my sword back and jumping away, with then my elemental skill exploding them all away, inevitably killing all of the except for the abyss mage, who didn’t stop throwing water magic at me and even a bubble that could seek me.

Sam: You’re kinda annoying, aren’t you?

The abyss mage kept throwing magic at me, and teleporting away.

I couldnt find any way to do big damage to its elemental shield, only slashing it sometimes for tiny damage, until i simply just threw three of my elemental skills at the same time, stun locking them in one place, which allowed me to quickly connect various cuts and attacks in a single combo.

The elemental skills then exploded getting rid of the shield amd king the abyss mage unable to do anything.

I took that opportunity to run to it and prepare for a combo.

Slashing it to the air, i jumped, slashed it twice, then spin around while cutting it, then i jumped off of them, and threw my sword at them, impaling them, which i then took Sline (he still exists, i didn’t forget, just that he was camouflaging in my scarf) and used him to grapple into the hilt of my sword and smacked the abyss mage to the ground, before pulling my sword back at my hands and descending towards its body, as i thrusted the sword into its body again, killing it.

phew, i stood up, cleaned some dust out of my clothes and sheathed my sword, seeing the bodies of the enemies disappear in air and leaving some drops behind.

Paimon quickly got out of the hiding spot and started collecting the drops on the ground, depositing them somewhere.

I decided to help Paimon by gathering the loot too.

Mask, pieces of arrows and some scrolls were there, but i found one that interested me.

A piece of wood, that being the same wand the abyss mage used.

A white wood of sorts that i could sense it emanating some werid energy.

I bent down to pick it up, but upon touch, my mind disappeared out of my body and got transported somewhere else, that somewhere being a space looking place.

Sam: What the- Where am i?

I looked around me, seeing the abyss of the space place.

I could see stars, but a lack of light, and i stood there, wondering.

Suddenly, i fell through the abyss, getting engulfed by it, and that moment sent back my mind back to my body, waking up from my trip.

Paimon, looked towards me, judging if i really was ok.

i noticed it and quickly shook my head in no, aserting that i’m fine.

After that, we both went back to the city to get our rewards and perhaps have a snack too…

But my mind couldn’t get that place out of my head…

I left Paimon alone in the inn.

She said she was tired of the day after the activities and quests, and taht she ate too much snacks.

So i took advantage of that to have some time alone.

Walking by the streets, it was around one hour before night, and i could see still some people in the walks.

I asked some commoners about a library as my curiosity for this world could be killed with some knowlegde.

with the answers i got, i went into the Knights of Favonius place, which apparently that Amber girl works there.

Speaking of which…

Amber: Oh Sam, what are you doing here?

The energetic red ribboned girl exclaimed, as our paths met once more at the entrance of the complex.

Sam: Amber, we meet again. I am just here because i wanted to visit the library.

Amber: Oh, so you are a knowledge reader? Or perhaps a book worm? By the way, where is Paimon?

She asked, seemingly as energetic as a campfire trip group.

Sam: She is in the inn we are rented, saying that she is exhausted from the day.

Amber: She must be…well i gotta go Sam, there is some important things i must do. See you some other day!

The girl said, as she walked away almost running, with the same animation as before.

That allowed me to enter the place and move myself to the library.

Sam: A fine library, must say.

My mouth muttered myself, seeing the corridors of bookshelfs and knowing how much could be learn here.

I made my way to look out for some book that could enlighten me more about this world, which i found moments later.

Then i sat in a chair and table and just started reading…perhaps too much because i checked the hours in a wall clock and-

Sam: “21:34?! It’s already this late!?”

My mind said, as i closed the book and tried to stand up from the chair..before i felt someone talk from behind me.

???: Hmm, an avid reader in this library reading until this late? What was this cutie reading?
