It was her fault. Girls like her always cause so much drama just to get attention. That's the only reason I keep talking to her.

~Delila

I'm obviously shorter than her and prettier than her. She's basically a boy but she's a girl so...

~Kelly

Kelly groaned when she heard the alarm go off, dreading that she chose to wake up at 5 am today. She grabbed her phone with the intention of snoozing it until she saw the label.

Valentine's Day

The joy she felt overwhelmed her exhaustion. Today was the day Jake would finally confess his hidden feelings to her. The day Delila would finally learn that dressing like a guy and acting like a guy only attracted closeted lesbians with no standards. Forcing away the thoughts of Delila in favour of Jake, she began to get ready for the day intent on looking even better than she usually did.

Straightening her hair, curling it then brushing it twice so it looked slightly messy and perfectly natural.  Natural makeup with a little extra blush so she looked more bashful. Would Jake like the skirt? Delila hadn't worn one last Valentine's. Would she look like she was trying too hard?

The creeping anxiousness had a firm grasp on her by the time she was dressed and kept clawing at her pride as she entered her class. She immediately started looking for Jake from the door with slight fear and felt disappointed when she saw he wasn't holding heart-shaped balloons or even a box of chocolates engraved with her initials. Instead, he was at his seat talking to... Delila.

Kelly felt intense jealousy at the scene that only intensified when Delila started smiling slightly. She strode towards them and loudly asked,

"Jake, do you think my hair looks weird? I barely even had time to brush it today ."

Delila looked at her with disgust and interjected before Jake could even speak.

"Just ignore her. This is why I hate girls. All you do is talk about how ugly you are but you're literally not."

She looked stunned by her own words and she bolted out the class when she heard the response,

"You think I'm pretty?"

Delila had barely reached the bathrooms before Kelly caught up to her and pinned her to the wall.

"What did you mean?" she demanded, huffing slightly. "Do you actually think I'm pretty?"

Delila wondered whether she could trust herself to speak. After a glance at Kelly's red ears, she bit her lip just in case and cursed at her own indecisiveness. She liked Jake and hated Kelly. That was her reality and no amount of accidental compliments and unintentional touches should change that. Her resolve crumbled when her gaze turned to Kelly's eyes and she watched her pupils dilate.

Maybe?

She gently wrapped her arm around Kelly's waist and felt intense relief when her eyes widened in surprise but she didn't pull away from her grasp. Delila wasn't sure what the question was but she knew that she had found the answer in Kelly's eyes.

"You'd be prettier if you had me by your side." she murmured, smiling slightly at Kelly's gasp. "Pick me?"

This is still a work in progress, so please make any suggestions. Also, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna end up writing rude things cause of this, so I'd just like to say I'll try to keep the insults relevant to the characters in the story and not directed to any real people.

Thanks for reading! :)
