The Nightmares

Chapter one

Dominique's Family is one of the prominent wizarding families. White platinum-haired and usually wearing dark clothes themes are their characteristics. Those who married into Dominique's family will eventually grow platinum white hair naturally.

They were highly respected for their intelligence and strong sense of courage from a young age. This is the reason most great wizards who are still young come from their families.

The thing that they are scared of the most is turning seventeen. This is the most terrible thing for them because every Dominique Family will get a curse when they are seventeen years old.

This curse becomes a battle of life and death depending on whether they can resist the curse. Although famous for being a respected family, the actual descendants of the Dominique family are few because some of them die as a result of the curse they get. This curse is like a nightmare that will haunt them when they fall asleep.

Everyone in Dominique's family has different nightmares. The nightmares can include being chased by monsters, drowning in the ocean, or getting a deadly disease. Every wound they get in their dreams will affect their bodies when they wake up. The end of this nightmare is whether they can fight it or die defeated by its curse.

This is the nightmare that will threaten Raquel Dominique, the daughter of Roman and Ryenne, who will turn seventeen this year. Ryenne was so worried about her daughter that she asked her husband to persuade her daughter to take time off school first. Ryanne did ask Raquel directly but she flatly refused.

Raquel, who is in her teenage years where her emotions are still unstable and tend to be impulsive, feels that taking a leave of absence will only waste her skills and knowledge. It should be recognized that Raquel was indeed a top student at Astratus Latham Academy's best magic school, she was known for her skill in formulating potions, and with her intelligence she almost got a perfect score on all of the subjects.

In the past few days, arguments between parents and children had become daily fodder at Romans Manor. Today is the day Raquel is supposed to return to school, but she still hasn't gotten the permission of her parents. For whatever reason, Raquel had to get the permission of her parents and convince them that she would be fine while at school.

Raquel moved from her room-she had just finished packing her things even though she hadn't gotten permission yet, her father's office was the place she was headed to at the moment. In front of his room, there are two guards, before she can enter she has to wait for the guard to call her father whether he can be seen or not. After a few minutes, the guard allowed Raquel to enter, and she found her father still struggling with the parchments on his desk.

"Father-" She called out. Before she could continue, her father cut her off.

"Wait for your mother." Roman explained. Raquel sat on the sofa that was available in the room.

Not long after her mother came into the room to sit on the sofa opposite her, her father who saw it ended his parchment and followed his wife by sitting next to her.

"Raquel, My sentence yesterday was clear that you're going to stay at home for this year." Roman started the conversation. Ryanne next to him grabbed her husband's arm to calm his temper.

"Father, Mother, Please....."

"Raquel, I'm so sorry..." Ryanne said softly. This did not make Raquel give up, she quickly got up from the sofa and begged down on her knees with her face down.

"Father, please let me chase my dreams to become an alchemist, and the golden ticket is by becoming a Presice, this year is my opportunity to become Presice, Father. I promise I will keep in touch by sending letters, and when the curse befall me I will immediately report to you. I still have 3 months left before I turn seventeen. Please give me a chance, Father, Mother, I beg to you, please...."

Prisice is a leader of all of the classes in Atratus Latham Academy, of course, this is her goal because Prisice has many benefits for her. One of them is getting a golden ticket to the desired job department after graduating from Astratus Latham Academy. Raquel wanted to get into the Ministry of Health and become an Alchemist there, her ability to formulate potions was something she relied on.

Her father didn't give a word, making Raquel feel sad.

"Mother...." She said hoarsely holding back tears.

"Please... If I die I'm not regretting my choice, Mom." Her tears escaping, Ryenne spontaneously reached out to her and gave her a warm hug.

Mom... please.... I beg you... I promise I'll be a good girl there, I promise I'll always send you a letter.."

"Mom, if I can be honest, I'm scared... I'm scared of everything. I don't know what will I face later on, I want to be with you Mom, and your father. But... I want to make both of you proud of me before I die...."

"No... Raquel, stop saying such nonsense. You will forever be with us, and we already feel proud of you, Raquel. Five years in first place isn't something easy and all the potion you made is proof of your sincerity." Her voice as soft as a piece of silk, Ryanne comforted her daughter.

"My Daughter, it's for your own good." Roman said showing his soft side, even though he was hard on Raquel, he still loved his daughter.

"Please... for the last time... Father... Mother..."

Raquel sobbed hoarsely in her mother's arms until she fell asleep to her mother's singing. Ryanne had a calming ability with her magic singing.
