Aurora, Wanda, and Pietro stepped into the lab where Ultron stood, looming over the room. Behind him, Dr. Cho was hooked up to machinery, her eyes glowing a bright blue. Aurora recognized the familiar, eerie shimmer—the power of Loki's scepter was coursing through her.Wanda stepped forward to the large, glowing box in the center of the room.
"I—I can feel him," Wanda said, her voice uncertain. Aurora moved beside her, placing a hand gently on her sister's shoulder.
"He's dreaming," Wanda whispered, her eyes narrowing in concentration.
"I wouldn't call it 'dreaming,'" Dr. Cho chimed in, her voice sharp. "It's Ultron's base consciousness. Informational noise. Soon..." She trailed off, tapping a few buttons on the console.
"How soon?" Ultron interrupted, his voice dark and smooth. He raised an arm as if to signal impatience.
"We're imprinting a physical brain. There are no shortcuts," Dr. Cho explained, her tone firm but a little strained.
Wanda closed her eyes, hands pressed against the box, her mind digging deeper. Aurora watched her sister closely, confusion clouding her thoughts. Suddenly, Wanda yanked her hands away, letting out a scream as she clutched her head. Aurora rushed to her side, Pietro at her shoulder, his expression one of deep concern.
Wanda's head whipped around to glare at Ultron. "How could you?" she spat, her voice raw with fury.
Ultron stood slowly, his gaze unwavering as he looked down at her. "How could I what?" he asked, feigning innocence.
"You promised," Wanda gasped. "You said we would destroy the Avengers... make a better world."
Ultron's eyes flickered. "It will be better..." he said, but there was no real conviction in his voice.
"When everyone's dead?" Wanda tilted her head at him, disgust clear in her expression.
"That is not..." Ultron stopped himself, his tone tightening. "The human race will have every opportunity to evolve. To improve."
"And if they don't?" Pietro asked, his voice colder than usual. Aurora glanced at her brother, seeing the anger burning in his eyes.
"Ask Noah," Ultron muttered, not caring in the slightest.
"There have been more than a dozen extinction-level events before even the dinosaurs had theirs. When the Earth starts to settle... God throws a stone at it." Ultron's voice grew colder as he explained. "And believe me, he's winding up. We have to evolve. There's no room for the weak."
Aurora stepped forward, shaking her head. She couldn't listen to him anymore. Wanda, in the meantime, had quietly begun using her powers to break Dr. Cho's mental connection with Ultron.
"And who decides who's weak?" Aurora asked, folding her arms and looking up at Ultron defiantly.
"Life," Ultron chuckled, his voice tinged with amusement. "Life always decides."
Suddenly, Aurora heard the distant sound of an aircraft approaching. "Incoming. The Quinjet," she muttered. "We need to move."
"That's not a problem," Dr. Cho said as she stepped forward, pausing the transfer.
Ultron let out a groan of irritation and blasted Dr. Cho across the room with one swing of his arm.
"Aurora!" Wanda shouted, her voice full of fear.
"Run!" Aurora called, her eyes wide with shock. Pietro immediately grabbed Wanda and sped them both out of the lab. Aurora turned her focus to Ultron, blasting him backwards before rushing to Dr. Cho's side. She gently lifted the woman using her powers, her hands glowing bright.
