The evening breeze played with her long, dark hair, and the setting sun cast a golden glow over her flawless skin. Nakatayo si Adrianna sa gilid ng malaking balkonahe, tanaw ang malawak na hardin ng kanyang pamilya. Below, are the guests of her lavish twenty-ninth birthday where the are all mingling and laughing, unaware of the turmoil brewing within her.

She spotted her stepmother, Merlin, na umiikot at nakikipaghalubilo sa mga bisitang halos hindi niya naman kilala, charming them with her icy elegance. In six months, Merlin would gain full control of Adrianna's life, thanks to a clause in her father's last will. If she doesn't have someone to marry by the time she turns thirty, Merlin would need to force her to marry someone in order for her to get her share of the money.

Lost in thought, Adrianna didn't notice Euno until he was right beside her. He leaned against the balcony rail, a drink in hand, his dark eyes scanning the crowd below with a look of detached amusement.

"So, what are you plotting now?" He asked, his voice laced with its usual blend of sarcasm and disdain.

Humarap si Adrianna sa kanya, a playful smile curved on her lips. "Binabalak? Ako? You make it sound so sinister, Euno."

He scoffed. "Because it usually is. You always get what you want, don't you?"

Bahagyang humina ang kanyang ngiti, pero sandali lang iyon. "Hindi palagi," pag-amin niya, ang boses ay lumambot. "Pero ngayon, sigurado ako."

Tiningnan siya ni Euno sa mata, at sa sandaling iyon, inisip ni Adrianna na baka may nakita siyang iba bukod sa pagkapoot sa mga mata nito. Pag-usisa? Interes? Hindi siya sigurado. Pero alam niya ang isang bagay: may anim na buwan pa siya para baguhin ang tingin nito sa kanya.

Lumapit siya ng kaunti, ang boses ay halos bulong na. "You're not as immune to me as you think, Euno."

He straightened, his expression hardening. "Don't flatter yourself, Adrianna."

With that, he turned and walked away, leaving her standing alone on the balcony. Adrianna watched him go, a determined gleam in her eyes. She is Adrianna—the woman who never gave up, who never settled for less.

And she have a plan.
