....

I look down at this unknown gem that I found while exploring the forest. I pick the gem; it seems like it could be a good thing for my father to put in his collection. As I walked back to the house, the gem started to glow.

"What the?"

...
....
A flash of light began to show, and the next thing I knew, I blacked out. When I came back to my senses, I heard people speaking what I thought was Japanese, but after a bit, I started hearing English.

...
"Hey, are you okay?" A male voice said that when my vision cleared, I saw a boy in traditional Japanese clothes.

"Um, yeah, I'm fine."

I sat up and realized that I was in the snow. What the fuck? It was spring just a minute ago. I look at the boy who asks if I'm okay and see he has black hair with what I'm guessing is a haori that was black and had this white diamond pattern at the bottom.

"Where am I?" I asked the boy who was looking at me like I was crazy or something.

"You are in Japan," the boy responds.

....

"I'm sorry, come again?"

"Japan, you are in Japan?" The boys faces got even more confused.

I tried to stand up before I could, and the boy walked over to me.

"Hear, let me help you up." The boy reached his hand out for me to grab, and I grabbed his and stood up.

A cold breeze hit me, and a shiver ran down my spine. Only when I looked down to see I'm wearing a T-shirt and some leggings did I stand out like a sore thumb. Is that why the boy was looking at me? werid look

"So what is your name?" I asked the boy who stood there, looking at me still.

"My name is Ryota Kazuki, and what is your name?" the boy replied.

"Oh, my name is Rina" The boy gave me a weird look after I said that.

"Hey, what's that look for?"

"Rina, just Rina no last name; do you really expect me to just call you by your first name? I mean, we just met," the boy exclaimed.

I was confused for a second about why he wouldn't call me by my first name, but then I realized I was in Japan, and they call people by their last names for respect or something.

"Where are your parents?" the boy asks me.

"Dead," I lied, but Kazuki seemed to have bought it.

"Well, you're coming with then."

"I'm sorry. What and why?"

"I can't let a poor girl freeze out here." The boy grabbed my hand and started dragging me somewhere.

"Where are you dragging me to, exactly?" I asked Kazuki, but he did not respond. He just kept dragging me along until we reached. small house in the woods. Who wants to live out here? Kazuki opened the door and shouted.

I'm home, and I brought someone."

As I stepped inside, I saw a woman walking through another door.

"Ryota, who this you brought with you," the woman said, looking at me up and down.

"Oh, this is Rina," Kazuki said as he brushed off the snow on his haori.

The women have me a werid look. Why does everyone do that when they say my name?

"Just Rina?" the woman asked, confused.

"Yes Ma'am"

"Mom, she was out there in the freezing cold. Can we let her stay here, please?"

As I watched Kazuki beg for me to stay here, just because I look helpless doesn't mean. I am sorry, I don't know anything about Japan. Also, what year am I in for them to wear traditional clothing?

"Well, my dear, let's get you some warm clothes. You must be freezing."
