The Puppy Pirate (One Piece x reader)

C H A P T E R : 8

The tall, tan man with an irritated complexion approached you. He scanned you from head to toe, assessing you. "Who might you be?" He curiously asked.

"She's (Y/n); she saved my life when the Dagger Pirates were after me. I'm grateful she was there, Captain," Ikkaku replied. The man appeared interested in how Ikkaku mentioned that you had saved her briefly. He nods his head to you.

"(Y/n), I must express my gratitude for your intervention. You saved one of my crew members, and for that, I am thankful... However, I can't help but wonder... why did you decide to help her?" His voice was filled with genuine appreciation, yet his curiosity was palpable, hanging in the air, waiting for your response.

"Honestly, sir, I saved her because she asked me. Regardless of the circumstances, I believe in lending a hand when someone is in need."  You answered honestly. The man was baffled by the thought of you helping others without an explanation. But nonetheless, he didn't press further on your reason.

"Captain, you should have seen her. She was terrific in her combat skills. And her devil fruit is pretty powerful." Ikkaku praised you. The man's interest was piqued again, and he couldn't help but ask, "Devil fruit, huh? So you're a user? What's your power?" 

"She ate a dog fruit! You can see her fluffy tail behind her." Ikkaku answered for you. She clutched your shoulders and spun you around. Your eyes widen at the sudden spinning, and your back faces everyone. Ikkaku snatched your tail and wiggled it with her hands. You froze in place. No one's ever grabbed your tail like this.

"See! See! And look!" She twisted you around once again, causing you to feel a wave of dizziness. She seized your fluffy dog ears and played with them. The man could have been more impressed. He looked unfazed as he watched Ikkaku fiddle with your ears.
"All right. I've seen enough, Ikkaku. Put her ears down," he ordered. She loosened her hold on your ears and placed her hand on your shoulder. "Can we keep her, Captain? Please!" She begged her Captain to keep you.

"Ikkaku, she's not a dog." The Captain said.

Everyone was silent, including you.

"I mean, she's not a literal dog. Yes, she has devil fruit powers as a canine. But she is still an individual. She has her path to go rather than to voyage with us." He said in a stern voice. He stared at you. "Isn't that right, (Y/n)?" he questioned you.

"Yes. I am vouyaging on my own." You said.
But as you said, a thought came to mind: I've been lonely for days at sea. Having some chums would be fun. But with these guys? Probably not.

"But... may I ask a question."

He responded with a simple nod of his head. "Who are you guys? I understand you steal stuff from pirates. But what precisely is your group?" The man cleared his throat, stood tall, and began to speak.

"I am Trafalgar Law, Captain of the proud Heart Pirates."

CAPTAIN!!! CAPTAIN OF A PIRATE CREW!!!! THIS IS BAD!!! THIS IS REALLY BAD!!!

I stayed calm and did not show any aggression or fear.
Even though I was taught to fight others, including pirates, I held off. He's the Captain; he is supposed to be the strongest of his crew. I can't overpower him; I need to stay calm and collected.

"Oh? You're a Captain. That's cool," you said as if you had met many pirate groups. "He's the coolest Captain ever!" Penguin yelled. "He's the most awesome Captain ever!" Shachi replied, too.

Shachi stepped in front of you. "You mentioned that you are traveling alone. Are you intending to sail solo for a while?" Shachi asked you. "I don't plan to be alone for long," you answered.
