a/n: hello! I just wanted to post a few disclaimers before you start reading.
The plotline this story will be following is from Frank Herberts original DUNE novels, all characters and ideas besides Aliyah, Nabila, and a few others yet to come, respectfully belong to him. I really wanted to follow the themes and events brought out in the original book series, there's so much political underlining which I feel was intricately woven into the piece, it really reflects the civil unrest we're experiencing globally. Having the movie as a visualizer really helped inspire me further to incorporate my own ideas and events into the dune universe.
Character development will happen throughout the book, Nabila may not be a character you like all the time, she is not meant to be a protagonist, nor is she meant to be an antagonist. My vision for Nabila is for her to be a morally grey character, one who is very cut and dry with their decisions, who grows with each choice made. She will do what she thinks is best for her people at the time, at the expense of anyone or their feelings.

It gets kind of morbid straight off the bat. Not the gory type, but sadly s/a is a big corner stone of this book. I couldn't bring myself to write Aliyah's story in detail, which is why it is in Shadout Mapes' p.o.v.
As I know that it is a heavy, sensitive topic, S/a will only be featured in the prologue to the story, which has been posted along with this A/N, so for those who are sensitive to such topics, it's alright to skip the prologue. You may miss the creation of Nabila, but the story will make sense all the same. I just want my readers to enjoy the story in a safe mental headspace, so again, please do not read the prologue if you are sensitive to these types of topics, your safety and wellbeing means more to me than a few views on some shoddy fanfic.
Criticism is encouraged, but please don't be cruel. I know I'm a bit rusty regarding sentence structure and description. As updates come, I hope to improve so I can deliver a great experience for you guys. With that being said, I hope you enjoy!
