dream is an astronaut who was sent on a mission. his husband, george, waits for him to come back.

he was all suited up.

it's real.

dream is being flown into outer space.

"ill be back as soon as possible, alright, love? and i'll call you as much as i can, see if they can get me through to you," dream said, tearing up at the fact that he had to leave his husband.

george nodded, crying quietly, "i'll be waiting by my phone.. i'm gonna miss you."

the blonde leaned in and kissed his husband softly on the lips, before planting another kiss on his forehead and hugging him. he let his tears fall silently, and he buried his head into the brunette locks he loved so much.

"i'm gonna miss you, too, sweetheart. i'll miss you so much. i'll ask the people at ground control to call me when it's your birthday, okay, baby?"

george nods and smiles, his tears stopping. "you're sweet," he mumbled, to which dream shrugged and laughed softly, his eyes still wet, "you deserve it."

the brunette giggled.

dream smiled sadly and kissed his nose, before whispering, "remember.. i love you to the moon and back, my love."

they shared one final kiss before dream had to be loaded into the rocket.

they began to count down.

10...

9...

8...

george looked up at his beautiful husband through the window, prepping the ship as the timer went down.

7...

6...

5...

dream exhaled. all of his training prepared for this. he was ready. he looked down at his husband, and immediately started to tear up.

4...

3...

2...

george began to cry again, whispering a small "i love you" for only himself to hear. he hoped dream saw him.

1...

liftoff.

dream whispered it back, "i love you, too." he hated lying to his husband.

he hated the fact that he knew this was a suicide mission, and he wouldn't be coming back.

as the rocket started to take off, george waved. he waved his arms high and wide. his husband didn't see, since he was already preoccupied with the rocket, but a little glint of hope shined in the brunette's soul that he saw.

6 Earth months later

ground control called dream. it felt like he was only up there for a few minutes. "yeah?" he asked, eating his gross freeze dried food. "hey, mr. smith. it's your husband's birthday today."

dream's heart dropped, "can i call him..?"

the woman on the other side sighed. "he doesn't know, does he?" she asked, and dream replied, "would you tell the love of your life that there was an 87% chance of you dying?"
