"I look at you and see nothing," My husband said as he gave me divorce papers.

We've been married for 8 years now and we were so in love with each other. He always called me to check in on me and always, well most of the time, made me breakfast in bed.

But that all stopped when his company hired a new employee, Holly, and he was assigned to train her. He started to come home late. His calls stopped. And he was gone even before it was time for him to start working.

But I never gave up and continued to trust him, I just thought he was busy with work or had to help Holly with something since she was new. But here I was, in our house's shared bathroom, crying my eyes out. I just didn't understand what went wrong. What I had done wrong.

Still crying, I could hear tree knocks at the bathroom door. I quickly freshened myself up and opened the door with a smile knowing that it would be my twin boys, James and Samuel.

I had them both from a previous marriage and they see their father on the weekends. They both adored Jackson and saw him as their father, so I just couldn't tell them about the divorce. Not yet at least.

"What happened, ma?" Jamie asked, softly grabbing my shoulders to examine me to see what was wrong.

"Nothing's wrong boys," I brushed them off and started walking towards the kitchen to start preparing dinner. "So how was school?" I tried changing the subject.

"Ma," Sam warned. I immediately broke out in tears as I handed him the divorce papers his father had given me just mere hours ago.

Jamie led me towards the couch, not knowing what to say and Sam muttered a couple of swear words to himself. I let him be, knowing I'd be talking to him about it later.

As Jamie continued to comfort me, I heard the kettle whistling and cups being placed on the kitchen counter. It was Sam, probably making tea for all of us.

"I'm sorry, ma," Sam said as he handed me my cup of tea and sat next to me.

"It's okay, boys. It's not your fault," I gave them a sad smile and took a sip of my tea.

"Why don't we watch a movie to take our minds off things?" Jamie suggested after a while of silence.

I smiled and nodded my head and they scrambled to get everything ready, insisting that I stay where I am and not to move.

As I sat here with my sons watching some silly rom-com, I realised that they were the only thing I needed. And even though I'm sad about this whole divorce, I know that they'll always put a smile on my face.
