╔══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══╗It's currently 4:47 in the afternoon.
Sunset was drawing near, and Gen'ei wanted to make it to the skatepark just in time for sunset. Sunset was the best time to skate over the half pipes, pyramids, and ramps.
Sunset was also one of the only times she could nearly stay up until midnight with her best friend, Yosetsu Awase.
Checking her watch for what felt like the hundredth time, Gen'ei sighed softly, a hint of impatience flickering in her eyes. Yosetsu was running late again, a fact that seemed to have become a recurring theme in their meet-ups. But despite his habitual tardiness, Gen'ei couldn't deny the anticipation bubbled within her chest at the thought of spending time with her best friend.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, a familiar figure came bounding into view, skateboard tucked under one arm as he raced towards her with an apologetic grin plastered on his face.
"Yo! Sorry I'm late, I had an afternoon study sesh with some friends," Yosetsu exclaimed, his breath slightly labored from the sprint.
Gen'ei arched an eyebrow teasingly as she brought her skateboard to a stop, her lips curling into a playful smirk. "Don't you know you're supposed to ride on the board?"
Yosetsu chuckled sheepishly, setting down his skateboard and giving it a playful pat before joining Gen'ei on the pavement. "Hey, I like to mix things up a bit," he quipped, pushing off with one foot to glide alongside her. "Enjoy this while you can! Once we get into UA we won't be able to skate much at all.'
As they weaved through the ramps and half pipes, the gentle breeze tousling their hair, Gen'ei couldn't shake the feeling of gratitude that swelled within her. It was Yosetsu who had sparked her newfound passion for heroism, igniting a fire within her that she hadn't known existed.
"Yeah, tell me about it," Gen'ei mused, her voice tinged with uncertainty. "I don't know how to feel, honestly. I mean, I haven't even really wanted to be a hero until recently. Thanks to you. Though, I'm content just going to college like normal and skating the rest of my life."
Yosetsu's expression softened, his gaze meeting Gen'ei's. "And miss out on being like, the biggest badass ever? No way! That's not a life I'm letting you live," he declared, a fierce determination gleaming in his eyes. It was the look Gen'ei knew too well as one of seriousness.
Leaning against the edge of a half pipe, Yosetsu glanced over at Gen'ei, a faint smile playing at the corners of his lips. Despite the fading light, her features were illuminated by the soft glow of the street lamps, casting shadows that danced across her face.
"So," Yosetsu began, his voice quiet yet filled with curiosity, "what made you change your mind about becoming a hero? I mean, you've always been into skating and stuff, but I never would've pegged you for the hero type."
Gen'ei paused for a moment, her gaze drifting off into the distance as she pondered his question. "Honestly, I think it was seeing you in action," she admitted, her voice tinged with admiration. "I mean, I've always known you were something special, but watching you skate through life with such determination... It made me realize that maybe there's more to being a hero than just flashy quirks and cool costumes."
Yosetsu's heart swelled with warmth at her words, a soft blush creeping across his cheeks. He had never considered himself anything out of the ordinary, but hearing Gen'ei's sincere praise filled him with a sense of pride he couldn't quite put into words.
"Wow, I don't know what to say," he replied, his voice tinged with emotion. "But if I had any part in inspiring you to pursue your dreams, then I'm honored."
