Gwen was doing her homework on one of the benches in the courtyard. "Hey you, long time no see," a familiar voice startled her. "Hey! Don't do that. " Gwen scolded him as he sat down next to her. "What are you even doing here, Aziz?" She looked back down to her paper.

"Jeeze, I just wanted to ask you something." This caused her to look up. "Would you um, maybe want to go with me to Ben's coronation?" He picked at his fingers. Her brows furrowed. "What? Why?"

"Well, I guess you don't, sorry for distracting you," he began to stand up. "No, wait! I'm sorry, I guess I just am wondering why you want to go with me. I mean, out of all people. There's a whole school of princesses, yet you're asking me. Why?" Aziz sighed and made eye contact with her. "You're different," he told her.

"Different?" She questioned. "Yeah, I mean most girls here spend most of their time swooning over me, either that or their too worried about their hair." he ran a hand through his hair. "I'm too smart to be seduced by you," Gwen scoffed and began her work again. "I know that's why I like you,"

Gwen snapped her head toward him. "You like me?" She was surprised. No one had ever liked her before. At least not like that. "Yeah, I mean, you're cute, funny, and you're not afraid to speak up,"

Gwen bit her lip. "Yeah, I'll go to the coronation with you. On one condition, " she put down her pencil. "And that is?" Aziz asked. "You have to sit with me and my friends," she said. "Deal, see you around Gwen." he kissed her on the cheek and left. Gwen touched her cheek and smiled.

"Gwen!" She turned around and saw Mal and Evie walking towards her. "Ben asked me out, so you need to come help Evie get me ready. Wait, why are you smiling. Are you okay?"

"Prince Aziz just asked me to go to the coronation with him," she told her best friends. "Omg, shut up! I have to make you a pretty dress, and I'll do your hair -" Evie touched Gwen's hair. "You can't go to the coronation with Aziz," Mal said. "What why? That's not fair. You're going with Ben," Gwen reminded her. "That's only so I can stand in the front, where the wand will be. No one else can go with someone. We have to complete this mission, " Mal continued.

"I'm going with Aziz, I want to. I really like him Mal, you're supposed to be one of my best friends!" Gwen argued. "And I am being your best friend by reminding you what we came here for!" Mal raised her voice. "Well, what if I don't wanna do what we came here for?!" Tears started to form in her eyes. "Gwen! We have to do this! We have to prove to our parents that we're"

"That we're what? Evil? I don't really want to be evil anymore. I don't wanna be like our parents. I wanna be my own person. I'm done here. Have fun on your date, Mal. " Gwen walked off.

"Gwen, wait!" Mal called after her friend. "It's okay, just let her cool off for a bit." Evie placed a hand on her shoulder. Mal took one last glance at Gwen before going back to the dorm with Evie.

Luckily, no one really heard or paid attention to their argument. If they did, it would be really bad.

Gwen ran into the woods and let tears start to stream down her face. She never cried. She didn't cry. What was Auradon doing to her? She couldn't believe she said she didn't want to be evil anymore. And to Mal of all people. She was embarrassed and confused. She's never really been allowed to have feelings before.

It was weird yet freeing. She felt free in auradon. She felt as if she was allowed to be herself there. She knows they're supposed to get the wand for their parents and go home, but what would happen if she didn't. What if she wanted to stay in Auradon. Gwen loved her friends, actually screw friends. They are her family. But she believed they could be more than their parents.

"There you are!" Carlos ran towards her. She had been laying down under a tree. She didn't realize how long it had been. He sat down beside her. "Evie told Jay and I about your fight with Mal." he met eyes with her. "Oh," her gaze shifted to the ground. "I think it's great you like Aziz, and I think you should go to the coronation with him," he told her. She looked up to him with a confused look. "But Mal-"
