"Oh my God!" My mother whispered and rushed me into the house. I was sobbing and trembling uncontrollably. What would happen to my father and brother? "Oh mother they're going to kill them" my mother looked at me with immense pain in her eyes, as if she died a thousand deaths.
"Mother what do I do?" "Tell me!!" I grabbed her shoulders and tried to shake her out of her fixed thoughts.
And then the fight began... the sound of swords crashing into one another, the multitude started screaming and running to safety. I turned to see what was happening and saw my brother and father with their backs to each other fighting the 4 warriors. I saw as my father crashed his sword into the other warrior's sword forming an X. Both pushing against each other. My brother was fighting the 3 others. He was good. Blocking each blow of swords with much speed. My brother trained since he was a child, it was no surprise he was skilled.
"Run Genevieve run! I heard my mother shout. I couldn't run. I was blinded with fear and anger. However, the fear was stronger....
I looked up at the Emperor whose name I had heard to be Lord Edward and he was staring at me. our eyes locked into each other. His fiery eyes were looking at me like a predator. I looked back at him and if looks could kill he would have died right that instance because the hatred in my eyes consumed my entire soul. I broke our connection and began looking all around me and something familiar caught my eye. The back door. I looked back into the Emperors eyes and in a matter of a flash I was running to the back door. My gown felt heavy but it did not stop me. I opened the door as fast as I could and headed for the back alley. I did not look back. I couldn't. My will for survival was too powerful and it did not allow me. I turned in an alley in between two homes. My head involuntarily snapped back to look if anyone was following and to my horror I heard heavy horse hooves approaching me with much speed. I took a better look and it was him..... noooo!... he was catching up to me. I turned to look forward and ran faster than I had ever thought my legs were capable of. It felt like my hips would snap out of its sockets anytime. The gown slowed me down as I tried to lift the sides to have better ability for speed. Tears spilled from my eyes making my eyesight cloudy. By now... fear consumed my entire being and I lost track of where I was going. Now I had no idea where I was heading. I turned to another alley and my heart sank. A dead end. I breathed hard as I tried to catch my breath. I looked around me for a way out and there was none. I turned around to run back out of the alley and there he was...... looking at me attentively while trying to calm his horse down. The immense animal looked like it wanted to run some more but the restraint on the reins and his rider were restraining him.
"Please..." I managed to say but it came out as a whisper. He continued looking at me with fierce eyes. He began dismounting and then walking towards me and I tensed completely terrified. I walked backwards until my back hit a wall. There wasn't enough air to breath. He was too close. He continued walking towards me like a lion eyeing his pray. He presented himself prideful. Full of confidence. There was no doubt he knew what he was doing. Now he was nearly a few feet away. His dark green eyes were darker than before. I pressed myself harder into the wall thinking somehow I could become smaller. In a matter of second he was on me. His hand held my jaw tightly giving me a course of pain and fear into my entire being. I closed my eyes tightly.
"Please...." I whispered again.
"If looks could kill... id be dead...." He said with a dangerous tone.
I remained silent and slowly opened my eyes to lock into his green ones.
"Where did you think you were going?" he asked with a smirk.
"A...away Fr...o.om you" I answered with a trembling voice.
"Oh darling but why? I'm I not pleasant in your eyes?"
We looked into each other's eyes and I felt when he relaxed and let my jaw free while he took a step back away from me. His gaze narrowed as if demanding an answer to his question.
"Would you have preferred an undesirable old filthy barbarian? Or someone young as myself? Do you not find me attractive?
My lips parted when I heard his words. The nerve! This man had! He truly believes I shall give myself to him because of his good looks? I regained my composure and replied in a respectful matter as I have been taught to do my entire life.
"My lord you are very much attractive... much in fact, very much indeed! But I want neither.... What I want is a choice... my will to choose the man I love. Please pardon me, I beg of you... but that man is n...n.....not you......" I managed to say much difficulty.
We locked into each other's gazes for quite a while when he finally looked away from me and answered...
"I'm afraid you have no choice in the matter of who your master will be." He responded prideful.
"You will never be my master!" I answered a little louder with anger in my voice. Truth is, he was beginning to anger me with his arrogance.
"I already am!" he responded through gritted teeth. Making me gasp as the fear and weakness consumed my body completely.
