——————————

There I was, being sedated for the fifth time, this time with etorphine. I finally lost control and broke from the leather straps that held me down after they took my lung during my live dissection. This was every day life for me, constant torture, constant pain. After half a decade I finally accepted it and stopped trying to run. I just assumed this time would be no different just another day of injections and classes and intensive training like always. That is until I heard it over the intercom, a way out.

"FPCON DELTA I repeat FPCON DELTA. Pause all research and evacuate immediately." A woman's voice said through the ceiling speakers.

I heard footsteps outside of the door and the sound of a key card unlocking the door. A guard came up to me with a syringe in his hand and injected it into my arm as the doctors were sewing my Y incision up.

Everything went black and when I woke up I was being carried over someone's shoulder. I heard groaning and shooting, lots of screaming as well. But suddenly I was dropped and fell onto a body that was bleeding out but still moving.

It started to wrestle me trying to bite me so I took its head and began to smash it against the wall with all my strength until it stopped moving. The people that had me previously ran away and I was left on the ground in a hallway somewhere in the guards quarters. I got up slowly since the room was spinning and went into the nearest room. Luckily it was a clothing storage room and I was able to change into a black tank top, a camo jacket and pants that were too big for me, unfortunately none of the shoes fit me so I just put on three pairs of socks. 'Time to go' I thought to myself as I looked out of the room and ran down the hallway until I saw a window or a fire escape. I stopped when I heard a yelling through a door to my right.

"Help! AH-" The screaming stopped and was replaced with a loud wet squishing noise. I could only imagine what was happening in that room.

I kept running eventually finding a window near the top of the wall and it was small. Almost like a basement window. I spiderman crawled up the wall, digging my fingers into the wall to pull myself up and I broke and climbed out of the small window.

The sun's glare was in my eyes as I tried to adjust to the newfound light. It smelled of pine trees and rain. This base was in a forest. There were bodies shuffling around the gates occasionally going down to eat one of the bodies that had littered the dirt parking lot. I ran past most of them and began to climb the tall fence surrounding the premise. When I jumped down I twisted my ankle breaking the bone and I had to start limping away.

I couldn't believe it, I was finally out of that hellhole and outside for the first time in years. This was the first day of my new normal, my new beginning. I shuffled my way away from the military base and kept a good pace for about an hour before fatigue started to catch up to me. Eventually I realized my stitches were becoming undone. It must've broke when I crawled out of that window.

Luckily I think my lung grew back fully so it's easier to breathe. Fortunately for me the experiments made me near immortal so my regeneration is a lot more efficient than the average human. Unfortunately I'm not able to regrow appendages though as they figured out in the labs when they cut off half of my pinky and ring finger on my left hand. But everything internal was an easy fix, like a bullet through the head or heart. My body would just push it right out.

I kept walking until I came across a dirt road. I started walking along that instead of aimlessly heading forward. Eventually a blue and grey truck drove up behind me as I continued to limp my way on the road. It stopped in front of my left and a woman with short blonde hair got out and started to speak to me.

"Are you ok little one?" She asks in a Belgian accent.

"I'm fine." I respond continuing to limp before tripping and falling on my face.
