Dear Ryou,
I hope you're doing well!
I must admit, the thought of sending you an electronic message crossed my mind, but something told me you'd prefer a handwritten letter, more personal. So, here's my response to yours.
As I write these words, I am in Sunagakure no Kuni. The Hokage sent me here for a rather... peculiar mission. At his request and that of the Kazekage, I am tasked with training the future medical shinobi teams and introducing Suna's young Genins to medical ninjutsu. Frankly, this mission really took me by surprise! And, even though I accepted, I think the reflection period they gave me was extremely short: barely a day! I must admit, the idea of this responsibility makes me nervous, and I still wonder if I made the right choice.
So, it seems I'll be here for a minimum of six months, maybe even longer...
The journey from Hi no Kuni to Kaze no Kuni was... oh, I struggle to find the right words! It was the first time I saw them with my own eyes, those endless dunes. Here, the sun seems to breathe life into each grain of sand, as if we were sailing through constellations. It's so beautiful! As you can imagine, I was so moved that I shed a few tears. The man accompanying the Kazekage (a certain Baki) clearly frowned in dismay, indicating that it was not wise to waste the body's water in the desert, let alone by crying. Since the incident where I almost bumped into the Kazekage in the corridors of the Konoha Office, running not to be late for a meeting, I have the distinct impression that this man does not hold me dear, and his disapproving glances have become habitual.
Moreover, upon our arrival in Suna, he promptly provided me with a whole set of directives regarding their Office:
· Silence must be respected in work areas to not disturb the employees' concentration.
· Smoking inside the building is prohibited.
· Work hours and scheduled meeting times must be respected.
· Running in the corridors is strictly forbidden (he particularly emphasized this point).
· Pets are not allowed.
· Access to certain areas is restricted and requires specific authorization.
He presented these rules to me with such seriousness that I felt like a little girl about to be reprimanded for the slightest misstep. Well, as you can see, it seems that the Suna Office takes order and discipline very seriously...
Fortunately, I was greeted much more warmly by Temari-san. She returned there about a month and a half ago, apparently for reasons related to the country's internal politics, but I don't know more about it.
She and her brothers reside on the top floor of the Office. It's a private space with several bedrooms, a shared living room, a kitchen,... That's where I'm staying too.
My room faces south and is bathed in light almost all day long, which fills me with joy! It is simply furnished, with a desk, a bed, a shelf, and a built-in wardrobe for my belongings. It also has a small private bathroom. Temari told me not to hesitate to personalize it as I wished, which I'm considering. I'd like to add a touch of color to the ochre walls to bring a bit of cheerfulness. Just one little issue: the latch on the door seems to be faulty, which means it tends to slightly open from time to time. I'll have to take care of repairing it... if I don't forget to do so...
