Experiments!

Levi POV

I was having a nice, quiet afternoon of sipping tea and planning the next attack outside of the walls. Erwin had helped me with some of it, but I assured him I could finish the plans on my own. Now, I was alone in my office working on them as I sat behind my desk. I could feel the warmth of the sunshine as it shined through the window, the cool breeze, and the birds outside sweetly chirping as they flew by.

Everything was so peaceful....

"Hello half-pint!" Hanji yelled enthusiastically as she burst through the door. I couldn't help being startled and slightly jumping at her loud voice.

"Good afternoon four eyes, what the hell do you want?" I said in a disinterested tone. I'm not really a person that likes to show emotion, and won't if not necessary.

"I want Eren!" She clapped her hands together in excitement as she said this.

"For what exactly?"

"Experiments!" She yelled, tapping her fingers together and giggling quietly. She looked like a maniac...

"What kind of experiments?" Usually I wouldn't ask about the experiments she did, but she wanted to do them on Eren, A.K.A humanity's last hope. Sure, he's a brat, but I hate subjecting anyone to Hanji's mad-scientist-like wrath.

"Well," She started, putting her hands by her sides and now looking serious, "we know Eren can turn titan when he wants, as long as he has a set goal in mind. We also know, he has certain traits of a titan outside of his titan form, for example, the ability to regenerate limbs and heal at an exponential rate of time. This means he has a higher tolerance for pain. But, besides that, many of his senses are still dull. So, I thought, 'why not try to enhance them by giving him the traits of an animal?' It may sound difficult, but from what I heard from Eren, he got his titan shifting abilities from an injection his father gave him at a young age. So, I hypothesize he was injected with titan DNA, that overtime combined with his own to make him the shifter he is now. I could test this with a blood sample from him, and if I'm right, do the same thing with DNA from an animal to enhance more of his senses. But, I would need your permission to test this out on him. Can I? Please Levi?"

"So you want to heighten his senses and take a blood sample? Is that all?"

"That's all." Hanji was almost drooling with excitement as she talked.

"Why can't you test this out with one of the other soldiers, like the one with the horse face?"

"Because, he's the only one who's DNA actually has a chance at combining with another animal's. Also, I don't believe the commander would like me testing on the soldiers that aren't shifters, since that's kinda the reason I can experiment on Eren in the first place, with your permission of course."

I realized the chance I was taking, handing Eren over to Hanji, but I could trust her not to hurt him, at least not too badly. And god knows that brat has too much of a will to live to let anything kill him. "Fine..."

"Yay! Where is my darling little specimen?"

"He's outside, last I checked Erwin wanted to talk to him."

"Why?"

"He and one of the other soldiers got into a fight. He's probably lecturing him on self control or some shit like that, otherwise he'd be in here with me."

"Oh really?" Hanji said, wagging her eyebrows and smirking.

"Yeah, I kind of had to take responsibility of the brat, it doesn't mean I enjoy it."

"Whatever you say Levi. Now, I'm going to go find titan boy, wanna come with?"

"Fine, if I don't Erwin might get angry...not that he'd be in a particularly good mood right now anyways."

I got up from my desk hesitantly and followed Hanji outside. The soldiers were standing around the building and talking, probably about the fight they witnessed between Jean and Eren. Apparently, after training was over Jean pissed Eren off, which really isn't that hard to do, and they got into a little quarrel.

As we walked passed other soldiers, I finally saw Eren. Erwin was standing over him looking angry and Eren was looking down, he seemed really upset and had a bruise on his cheek. I kept walking toward them and approached Erwin, he smiled when he looked down and saw me.

"Hello Corporal, it seems your pet got into some trouble."

"He's not my pet, and I'm aware he got into a fight earlier with another soldier."

"Well, he is your responsibility. Do I need to remind you to watch him?"

"No, you don't. I believe I know what my duty is and what to do with him. I actually came here to get him." Erwin is such an ass sometimes...

"Well here, take him, but don't let him out of your sight."

I took him by the collar of his shirt and pulled him beside me.

" Tsc, whatever Erwin. Mind your own business and stay the hell out of mine."

I continued pulling him as Hanji followed, still smiling excitedly. Eren on the other hand still looked pretty upset. I sighed and looked at him, "That's the third fight you've gotten into this week, Jeager. Although I don't have to remind you of that, do I?"

He lifted his head slightly, and you could see the angry expression on his face. "No, actually you don't. I'm aware of my actions, and don't need to be reminded of them."

"Drop the attitude, brat. You've had a really bad one lately and it's starting to piss me off."

Eren looked away as I kept pulling him. Damn this kid has anger issues....

"Not that it's my place to ask, but what did Jean do for you two to get in another fight?"

He seemed a little shocked at the question and looked down. "It was nothing...."

"You got into a fight over nothing?"

"It's none of your business...just drop it."

"Fine." I wasn't going to make him talk about what was bothering him, I figured he would tell someone what was wrong eventually. He'd probably go to his sister or that blonde kid, Armin, who was his best friend. I didn't care who he went to, as long as it got him to stop acting like a smart ass, I didn't give a shit.

We kept walking until we came to the door of Hanji's lab. Hanji had stayed silent the whole time, but now walked in front of me to open the door. As we walked inside, Eren seemed confused. I hadn't told him he was going to be experimented on....

Hanji had only done a few experiments on him, and they had taken place outside. He wasn't familiar with this room, and probably wasn't too friendly to needles, considering his last encounter with one made him part of what humanity was against...I could tell this wasn't going to go as smoothly as Hanji and I thought it would.
