"I won't back down without a fight."

I announced as I barged through the gigantic wooden door. A heavy yet loud chuckle filled the room as a tall figure entered the room and approached me.

The chief of the adventurer's guild was intrigued and delighted to see such fighting spirit as a grin creeped up his face before offering me an onerous task.

"Ah, Yenri, my favorite adventurer."

"You truly have the spirit of a true adventurer --- I presume that you are here for another commission; I have the right task just for you. An anonymous fellow commissioned our best adventurer to search for an ancient sword --- it pays a hefty amount if you were to locate the weapon."

"Are you up to the job?"

I was intrigued and endorsed by the offer yet I thought wisely before asking Ivon the details of the commission in a playful manner.

"Hm, that depends, any information about this commission?"

"Pretty sure that no normal folk would just randomly seek an old sword when they could commission an ironsmith to make them a blade."

My gaze shifted to Ivon who shifted his body to lean on the wall as he crossed his arms before shaking his head slightly with the reason being that Yenri did not have a prerogative in this matter.

"Ah, right. Although I have heard news that I was to be removed, I suppose I don't have any other option other than to accept it."

I observed as the chief's lips curled into a relieved smile before a sigh escaped his lips, he then uncrossed his arms and wrapped one of his arms around my shoulder in a playful manner.

"That's my girl! I'm glad we won't be removing you after all, now this ancient sword was once wielded by a nobel; the house of this noble was not disclosed so I am not able to tell you more details about them but all I know is that this noble was a ruler who was known to slay dragons --- which may seem ridiculous as dragons don't normally exist in this modern world but we dare not question our ancestors now, do we?"

A mere sigh escaped my lips as my hand shifted towards my forepart before shrugging it off as I listened intently to the information.

I nodded in response to each and every vital information he spoke of and took note of it via letter.

Dusk trickled in the sky as twinkling stars began to fade into view, this became a sign to leave for home.

I stare at the ticking hand of the father clock as I wait for Ivon to finish before walking out of the adventurer's guild for home.

I entered my humble abode as I lit up a lantern before calling out my child's name and was met with silence, a wave of worry and fear washed over me as I panicked and checked everywhere.

As I opened the door to the room he slept in and found Wren in deep slumber on the mattress, a wave of relief washed over me. My gaze had then softened and relaxed as a relieved sigh escaped my lips before approaching the sleeping figure and sat next to him. I leaned down and placed a soft and gentle kiss on my child's forehead as I tucked him to bed and whispered a soft and sweet goodnight.

A new dawn begins as the orange sunlight trickles on the morning sky.

A bright ray of sunshine shone down upon my face as I opened the curtains to reveal the glowing sky outside, I turned to face my dear child before shaking him gently as an attempt for him to wake up.

"Wren, it is time to wake up; I made your favorite today."

A sigh escaped my lips as I noticed him ignoring my attempts, my lips began to curl into a mischievous grin as I began to tickle him on his stomach awake.

Cachinated laughter filled the mere room as I joyfully played with him before picking Wren up over my shoulder and walked outside of the bedroom to the dining room.

As Wren began to take a bite out of his newly cooked meal, I began to discuss something towards him.

"Wren, Are you fine with staying over at uncle Ivon's place? I have to do an important commission for my job and I'm not sure how long it will take me... I'll be back before you know it though, okay?"

"What? But what about your promise to bring me to the beach?..."

Wren's brows furrowed as he paused before looking up at me with puppy-like eyes, I sighed at the sight of him before smiling softly as I shifted my hand towards him and patted his head.

"And I will keep that promise, you know goodbyes aren't forever--- I promise to come back and take you to the best beach you'll ever dream of."

"Really? YAY!! You're the best, Mama!"

Wren's smile widened with joy before he had suddenly wrapped his arms around my waist into a big embrace.

I immediately melted at the sight of my beloved son, hugging him tightly before eating our meal together. As time began to pass by, the clock struck noon while I knocked at Ivon's door.

"Hello? Ivon? Are you home?"

"Ah yes, welcome! Is this the little fella I'm going to watch? You look like you could become the greatest adventurer, buddy."

I watched as Ivon knelt down to meet Wren's eye level whilst speaking in a joyful and barbaric voice.

A few minutes have merely passed by when we managed to convince Wren to stay put into his new temporary room, leaving Ivon and I alone at the front porch, discussing the necessary details of the commission I took.

I couldn't help but notice the concerned and wary gaze of Ivon until I was snapped out of my trance by the sudden question that came from his mouth.

"You know... Yenri, have you ever considered checking in? You know that this condition is quite dangerous... I suggest seeking help before continuing this commission, you know?"

"Huh? Checking in? No need, Wren is healthy as he is, although he is quite lonely, all the other children avoid him but he doesn't need to go to the clinic."

My attention shifted from his eyes to his body language, noticing how he seemed to feel the need to speak up yet something seemed to be stopping him from doing so.

Silence filled the air, causing an awkard tension between us to which I had to take the matter into my own hands and bid farewell.

As I waved goodbye, looking back for the last time, I noticed a concerned look on Ivon that seemed to lay out a ghostly expression, I paid no mind to this and continued on with my journey.

"Be careful, Yenri."

"Don't worry! I won't back down without a fight"
