The rest of the day flew by, but I could not get the behavior of my best-friend and boyfriend out of my mind. I hated that I didn't know what was going on.

After I caught Kylie giving Deante the death stare, neither one of them said much about it. Deante was acting weird and distant so I asked what was wrong with him but he insisted it was nothing. On the other hand after that class ended, Kylie acted as if nothing happened and this was a normal day. I couldn't help but let my suspicion take over.. Something was definitely up.

I refused to let it get to me though. I'm too strong for that. They always say what's in the dark comes to light so I will keep my guard up but let it unravel itself.

"BEEEP" the intercom sounded, initiating the announcements. "Good Afternoon, scholars of Grady high school! Thanks for the extraordinary day! I'm sure you guys know it's about that time of the year where we familiarize with our school royalty! You guys please do the honors of dropping your homecoming court nominees in the Dropbox on the doors of your classroom before you exit! Thank you and have a great remainder of the day!" said our principal.

Every year I was nominated for homecoming princess. Kylie, Shayla, and Promise were as well. We never decided to run for it because we didn't want to compete against each other. However, this is our senior year and I think running for Queen would be way more exciting than princess so I'm going to tell them about it when I get the chance. If I'm nominated I will be running and hopefully my friends aren't nominated so we won't have to run against each other but they probably wouldn't want too anyways.

"DING DING DING" the bell rang, interrupting me from my homecoming thoughts. I quickly gathered my stuff and headed for the door so I can meet up with my girls. Unfortunately, we didn't have last period (7th) together.

As I walked down the hallway I decided to go the way I usually see Deante instead. Once he saw me he looked startled as if he wasn't expecting to run into me. He quickly recovered and pecked my lips, wrapping his arm around my shoulders. "Hey Bae, you heard about homecoming right?" He asked. "Of course.. Annnnd I was thinking about running for queen, if I'm nominated." I responded. "I want you to be my date to the dance Lani. And I'll run with you and be your king. I love you." He said as we reached my car. This sudden change of attitude after what happened this morning was very weird. "Okay Deante.. I'll happily be your date." I hopped in my car. He closed my door for me and I drove out the parking lot to the front of the building. I hope he wasn't expecting me to say I love you too. I mean yes I do love him, but I'm not about to use the word so comfortably and loosely, when apparently I can't trust him 100%.

I dialed Kylie's number. "Bring your ass outside I'm bout to go." I said to her. "Okay I'm coming dang!", she yelled then hung up in my face. Oh hell nawwww. She done lost her mind. She got me out here waiting, while she taking her precious time, then have the audacity to yell when she getting a ride from me. TUH. I'll show her ass.

As soon as Kylie came out them double doors exactly 8 minutes after we got off the phone, I sped off riding right passed her dumb ass. She looked dumbfounded. I should've got that on video. But I wasn't gone do my girl like that so I waited a couple minutes to play like I left her for real and drove back around. When I stopped in front of her she opened the car door without saying a word. I broke the silence.

"Next time you better hurry up like I said. You're on my time not your own and I know some going on behind my back with my nigga AND I know you know. So don't even try me Kylie cause I will kick you out my car and you will be running after a bus." I sternly said to her. She sat there quietly as if she's collecting her thoughts. Finally she spoke. "Look Lani I don't know what the hell you're talking about. And I was talking to my cheer coach about practice. I'm sorry that I didn't jump when you said jump. You're not my damn mother. But thanks for the ride!" She said sarcastically. "Bitch catch a bus in the morning!" I said pulling off really fast making my engine roar.

People don't know who the fuck they dealing with. They must think I'm stupid. I'm not no damn goofy. I'm just gone distance myself for right now cause I don't have to deal with this shit. Real friends and niggas don't have you out here looking stupid and I'm sure that's exactly what I look like....

Kylie's POV
I really hate when me and Lani argue. We argue a lot, but I can tell this isn't just any other petty argument. I know I should've been more considerate of her time since she was doing me a favor, but she always think she run something. How was I suppose to say "you're right Leilani, I know your boyfriend is a fuckboy and he really doesn't care for you"? She probably wouldn't even believe me and it's not my business. Also, I really wasn't talking to my cheer coach, I was talking to Kimberly. I knew I would never hear the end of it if Lani knew what I was actually doing. She really despises Kim but I'm only associating with her to help get information for Lani. I'm sure Leilani wouldn't even care, but it's not my fault Deante ain't loyal so she can really stop taking her stress out on me. She need to control her man instead of trying to control me all the damn time.

Kylie in the mm.

Just a little filler, nothing major. Much more in store. 😉
