Chapter 1 : The First Day of Second Year

A/N ~ I do not own the Harry Potter characters, I am only a fanfiction writer! I am 12 years old and I have been writing since I was 6, this is my first time actually publishing my book though. Please notify me if you find grammar or spelling mistakes! Enjoy the book!

On the first day of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the Marchbank family headed to Kings Cross station. Celesta Marchbank and her sister, Dorothy Marchbank waved goodbye to their father, Jimmy Marchbank, and mother, Minerva Ollivander, who were standing on the train station. The Marchbank family is pure-blooded and all of the family members studied at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. 

Celesta and Dorothy were one year apart in age, so Celesta started studying one year before Dorothy at Hogwarts, and she couldn't see her sister for one whole year. She could only visit her family for the short Christmas and Summer holidays. This was Dorothy's first year at Hogwarts, and the two sisters were delighted to finally be able to see each other every day.

Things don't always go as planned, of course. Celesta has already found three best friends, Harry, Hermione and Ronald(all his friends call him Ron), to talk and play with, so she wouldn't be spending much time with her sister. Their relationship has already been alienate due to their lack of communication, and they are trying to distant it even more.

Celesta and Dorothy climbed onto the Hogwarts Express. 

"You can choose to sit wherever you want, you might even find some new friends too! That's how I made friends with Harry, Hermione and Ron. I'm sitting with them today, you can join us if you want," Celesta said to Dorothy casually.

"I would like to join you and your friends!" Dorothy replied excitedly.

"Hi, guys! Haven't seen you for ages. How are you?" Celesta asked her best friends.

"Good. How 'bout you?" Ron replied.

"I feel great. This is the year Dorothy finally gets to study at Hogwarts!" Celesta exclaimed. "Speaking of Dorothy, is it fine if she sits with us for this ride?"

"Of course!" Hermione replied with a smile on her face. "I'm excited to meet my best friend's sister, she might even end up being the best out of all my best friends!"

Celesta and Dorothy sat down onto two empty seats in the compartment Harry, Hermione, Ron, Celesta and Dorothy occupied. Celesta grinned at Harry, and Harry blushed bright red. Ron and Hermione winked at each other, they both knew that Harry fancied Celesta starting from their first year at Hogwarts. Whenever Celesta smiled at Harry, he blushed secretly.

"Would you like anything from the trolley, my dear?" Asked the lady who pushed a trolley full of sweets.

"We would like one Cauldron Cake, five Pumpkin Pasties, five Liquorice Wands and ten Chocolate Frogs please." Celesta told the lady pushing the trolley politely.

"Here you go, my dear. That would be three Galleons. Enjoy your sweets!" 

Celesta hands the lady the three galleons and took the sweets from the lady happily. She distributed the sweets, they split the Cauldron Cake into five slices and each took a slice. They got one Pumpkin Pastie, one Liquorice Wand and two Chocolate Frogs each. Ron was the first to chew on his sweets, he stuffed them quickly into his mouth, Dorothy stared at him, surprised at how fast he was eating. Hermione noticed Dorothy's surprised expression, and immediately assured her. 

"Don't worry, he's always this quick when he eats."

Dorothy's expression was still surprised, but she was relieved that he was okay.

Once the Hogwarts Express arrived at Hogwarts, Dorothy and the set of friends set off to their own routes. Dorothy followed Hagrid to ride across the Black Lake on boats, while the set of friends(also known as the Golden Quartet) climbed onto carriages. The quartet soon arrived at Hogwarts and sat down on the Griffindor table to wait for the sorting ceremony.

"The sorting ceremony will soon begin, please take your seats," announced Professor Dumbledore.

Celesta, Harry, Hermione and Ron were all excited to see which house Dorothy gets sorted into. After a few minutes, Professor McGonagall called the name of the first student to be sorted into a house, Luna Bones.

After a few seconds, the sorting hat shouted, "Hufflepuff!"

All the students clapped and Luna Bones walked towards the Hufflepuff table. The Hufflepuffs seemed delighted to welcome a new member in their house.

After a long wait, it was finally Dorothy's turn to get sorted into a house by the sorting hat.

Almost immediately after the sorting hat was put onto Dorothy's head, the hat shouted, "Gryffindor!"

Dorothy walked towards the Griffindor table, but she appeared to be somewhat sad. Celesta hugged her sister tightly as she slumped into an empty spot in between Celesta and Ron.

"You seem a bit sad, is everything alright?" Asked Ron, concerned.

"Yeah, everything's alright," Dorothy replied in a very small voice.

After the ceremony, food appeared on the table and the students started feasting on the delicious food served. After the students finished their desserts, they were brought back to their respective houses' common rooms. Dorothy smiled when she arrived at the Gryffindor common room. Once the lady opened the door for the Gryffindors, Dorothy immediately threw herself onto the soft couch laid in the centre of the room. Soon enough, Professor McGonagall came into the room and ordered everyone to go to bed.

"Good night! See you tomorrow!" Celesta said to her best friends and sister, and headed up the stairs to the girls' dormitories. She laid on her bed and slowly fell asleep.
