"None of your~concern anymore, none of your concern, is it even worth it at -"

I stopped singing as I felt a tap on my shoulder, making me look up from my homework. I was currently in college for law school, and this was my last year before we took our final exam, and this would be my chance to earn my SJD. I graduated high school early, so as soon as I got out, that's what I went to study. As I glanced up, I saw my best friend Kamila's half irritated half agitated face, and I immediately felt bed. "I'm sorry I'm listening. You know I have to study hard so I can pass this test." I tried excusing my absence of listening to her. She shook her head.

"No, you do NOT get to do that, I want you to pursue your career, girl, but how the hell are you going to do that if one day this shit leads to something happening to you?" She questioned. She was right, and it made me scared, but somehow, that was still not the first problem I had on my mind. Last night, I came home late to find a bullet hole through my window, and my plants as well as the vases had been scattered and shattered. "That's it you're coming to stay with me until we figure out a way to make sure your life isn't in jeopardy between getting shot, getting robbed or shit getting shot while getting robbed you're not even safe in your own home dammit! She exclaimed. I felt bad looking at how worried she was and sighed. "Fine, I give up. I'll go with you for now, but if we get a good team, we should be done, and I'll be back here soon," I said, trying to give her a deal.

She nodded, and we shook hands, looking at each other with a pause before we both burst out in laughter. "I'm going to pack some things, and I should be ready," I told her she nodded before pulling out her phone. I'm guessing to call her dad. I forgot to mention my friend's biracial, and her stepdad has some good money, so they were able to move out in no time after her mom got married.

5 long hours later

"I told your ass this why I don't drive to you, you drive to me" I said in a bitchy tone. So what, I den damn near fell asleep in the car lord knows how ugly I look I'm my slumber. She drove my car for me so I'd be able to go to school and work when she's busy. When we pulled in, we parked my car in the public garage and took the elevator up. Yes, it was one of those fancy condos. "I told you it was t-" Kamila was trying to explain herself again. "Ah ah, if you say it was tragic one more time, girl, me and you gon have at it in that lot" I said laughing she joined in and lead me to where she lived. I've only been here once before, and I didn't go inside. Like I mentioned, we live hours apart from each other, so she always drove to my place.

As we went in the nicer it got and I thought the outside was fancy when she unlocked her door and opened it for such a small place it was supposed to be it seemed grand to where I currently lived. "Girl this is fucking nice~" I said in awe. "Okay, so I have a guest room, but if you want, we could also sleep together in my room. Yes, I'm a grown woman, but I do own a regular bed and a bunk bed." She said, looking at me with a smile on her face. I swear I can't with this girl.

"I'll sleep in your room with you, but girl, if you smell anything like you do when you sleep at my place, we parting ways," I warned playfully. She let out a laugh and nodded "agreed" I started unpacking and putting up my clothes when I got a phone call. It was my ex Jonathan. We broke up almost a year ago, but ever since, he's been calling me or trying to talk to me whenever he got the chance.

Jonathan was the same age as myself, just a few months ahead, and to say he didn't act his age was an understatement. His first red flag was he was in a gang and no, I'm not talking about the 'I have high end protection in case I get you in this shit cus you my girl' it was the 'I'm gonna ride for my team even if we're in the wrong if you happen to die that'll just be a loss' type of gang affiliation with either way wasn't bout to risk my life for that nigga.

As I mentioned, that was only one of his red flags. The second main one I ended out in a relationship was that he didn't take anything serious. Bad combination of traits for being in a gang if you ask me. There'd be moments when I told him someone was driving by his place every time he came and got me, and then unexpectedly, my house got shot up.

Anyways back to present I'm tired of talking about this nigga. "Girl, John keeps calling me. I'm bout to block his damn number. Why can't he just leave me alone? we left on a good foot he better keep it like that," I warned while rummaging for my outfit of the day. It was only mid morning and we still hadn't eaten breakfast my appetite was lost though because of my house but luckily on our way here I called in some people to do some reconstructing the only thought wandering in my mind was what if this happens all over again or worse what if I'm actually in there? I shook the thought out of my head just as quickly as it came.

"We need to go out" I voiced without thinking. Kam (her nickname for Kamila for those who don't understand) turned and I couldn't tell if she was shocked, happy or contemplating it seemed like all three so i took some of my clothes out and pointed "You can pick my outfit but we're going out tonight" I stated more assuring. She nodded quickly and squealed, deafening my ears. "We're gonna get laid tonight. Hopefully, you don't find me in a threesome," she said. I looked at her questioning," Is this who I've grown up with.

"TONIGHT WE PARTY!"
