"Father, you called?" the man standing by the window, he stood still and tall.

Not batting an eye he sat on his chair.
Callidon Xavius Laufen. My so-called father. One of the most sought knights in this empire, he was once an illegitimate child of a baron. But with his talent and skills in every battle field, he he rose in power and influence and was granted the name, Count Laufen.

"I know you are aware what you have done in the Marquis' banquet" his ice cold voice trailed off with slight anger.

I'm not fazed though, because I have lived my life a lot different from mother, even if we live in the same place.

"Father, he was harassing me. In front of many people."

"Did everyone saw those harassment? Evelynne? If they saw then you can hit him and scream, yet no one saw. "

I clutched my fist as I lowered my head. Why can't I get used to this discrimination? Men truly are animals, no matter how they look!

Father spoke again, but this time it is firm rather than with anger. "Marquis Whyst has a huge, clean influence in this whole empire. Didn't you learn that?"

Truly, Marquis Whyst, a noble man with beautiful characteristics, he is also known through his wealth and his donations to childrens abandoned by their parents, he is well known to help people in the slums. Is short, his image in this empire is, pure.

Yet, someone who have those characteristics tends to have great impurities, and I'm sure that I am not the only one who fell victims unto his harassments.

I bowed my head low, as I offered him my sincere apology. Father, with his eyes piercing my soul, stood and walked towards me, no sounds can be heard, well obviously because he's a knight.

'slap'

"How can a 20 year old lady act like that."

I fell as i hold my redding cheek, I apologize once more that what happened in the banquet will never happen again.

Wiping his hands he send me off as he walks to take his seat, "Go to the physician and tend that cheek of yours",I bowed. "Make sure that Adel will not see you with that.",his eyes cold and deadly staring at me. He is afraid of my mothers hatred, 'tsk, Women are always a man's downfall'. Once my mother learns how to hate him, I'm sure he'll go insane.

I exited my father's office and went to the physician. The physician immediately knew that I have another injury which is natural everytime I misbehave, either father or my lecturers will be the ones that hits me.

"My lady, that looks painful", she fixes her glasses as she starts to tend my swollen cheek.

It doesn't hurt, afterall in those years of teachings and punishments, I have grown being numb to most common physical injuries.

"Veia", I called for the physician.

"Yes, my lady?"

"Define beauty in your own words"

At first she was puzzled but then started to think. "Beauty, is a weapon my lady. Beauty can be used in many different kind of events, like attracting attention, or.... Using it to manipulate others"

Veia, is one of my very few allies in this cruel world. "What about you my lady?"

"Just as you've said, Veia, Beauty is a weapon, but beauty is also a must. As i have seen and observed since I first came here. Those who have looks are fitting to be called humans, yet those who don't qualify the standards are casted aside like stones on the road"
