Olivia, Emma, Charlotte, and Amelia were just four ordinary girls, living in a small town with their families. They were all best friends, having known each other since they were kids. They did everything together, from school projects to movie nights, and they never thought anything could come in between their close bond.
But everything changed one fateful day in October. It was a dark, stormy night and the four girls were gathered at Amelia's house for a sleepover. They were excited to watch horror movies and eat junk food, like they always did on their sleepovers.
As they sat down in front of the TV, the thunder roared and the lights flickered. Olivia let out a nervous laugh and said, 'Looks like we're in for a spooky night.'
But little did they know, it was going to be much spookier than they could have ever imagined.
As the girls settled in for their first movie, they heard a strange noise coming from outside. Emma shrugged it off as the wind, but Charlotte looked uneasy.
'Maybe we should check it out,' she suggested.
But before anyone could respond, there was a knock on the door. The girls looked at each other, perplexed. Amelia's parents were out of town for the weekend, so they knew it couldn't be them.
Olivia cautiously approached the door and peered through the peephole. To her surprise, there was no one there. She turned to the girls and shrugged her shoulders.
'It must have been a prank,' she said.
But as they settled back in to watch the movie, they heard the knock again. This time, it was louder and more persistent.
Amelia's dog, Max, started barking frantically. The girls were now seriously spooked. Amelia, being the bravest of them all, decided to open the door and check outside.
But as she reached for the doorknob, the handle started turning on its own. The girls let out piercing screams and huddled together in fear. Suddenly, the door swung open, revealing a figure dressed in all black with a mask covering their face.
The girls screamed again, and this time, they ran towards the back door, not wanting to stick around to find out who the intruder was.
They quickly locked themselves in Amelia's bedroom and called the police. As they waited for the police to arrive, they heard strange noises coming from the rest of the house. It sounded like someone was walking around, knocking things over.
Amelia's bedroom door suddenly swung open, and the masked figure stood in the doorway, blocking their escape. The girls were frozen in fear, unable to move or scream. The masked figure slowly walked towards them, raising a knife in their hand.
But just as the figure was about to reach them, the lights suddenly came back on and the doorbell rang. It was the police.
The girls let out a sigh of relief as they were escorted outside by the police. They were informed that the masked figure had been caught and was actually a teenage boy from the neighborhood, pulling a prank on them.
But that wasn't the end of the horror for the four girls. The next day, as they were walking to school, they noticed something peculiar. The houses in the neighborhood were all decorated for Halloween, but one house stood out among the rest.
It was an old, abandoned house at the end of the street, with a large gate surrounding it. The gate had never been there before, and it seemed to have appeared overnight.
The girls couldn't help but be curious, and against their better judgment, they decided to go inside and explore the house.
As they stepped inside, they immediately felt a cold chill go down their spines. The house was dark and eerie, with cobwebs covering every corner. The floors creaked under their feet as they made their way through the rooms.
But as they reached the third floor, they heard a noise coming from upstairs. It sounded like someone was calling out their names.
'Olivia, Emma, Charlotte, Amelia… come play with us,' the voice whispered.
The girls froze in fear. They knew they had made a grave mistake by entering the house, but it was too late to turn back now.
Suddenly, the doors and windows slammed shut, trapping them inside. The girls were now surrounded by the spirits of the previous owners of the house, who had been murdered by an unknown killer many years ago.
The spirits were not looking for revenge, but they were looking for new playmates. And the girls were just perfect for their twisted games.
The four girls were never seen again after that day, and the house remained abandoned for years to come. Some say that the house is still haunted by the spirits of the girls, who can be heard giggling and playing in the halls.
But one thing is for sure, no one ever dared to enter the house again. The mystery of the missing girls was never solved, and the four best friends were never seen again. It serves as a reminder that sometimes, the scariest things are not those that go bump in the night, but the ones that look just like us.
