(Sophie's POV)
I was totally and completely lost. There was nobody in the park. And the only place I knew from the heart was the place me and Keefe always used to play. I remember when we were that young and innocent. I wish I'd savored those memories. And since I have a photographic memory, I sat on the bench that me and Keefe would always eat ice cream on.
I replayed every single memory of us in that park until I felt tears rolling down my cheeks. I never should've gone for a walk during the sunset. I'm supposed to be a mature adult, but by the time I realized it was dark, I had wandered to another part of the park. This was the only place that my legs knew by heart and didn't need to use directions. My phone was dead. So I sat on a bench. And I waited.
But the tears just kept coming, and I kept wiping them away, trying to toughen myself up.
"You're fine, Sophie." Sophie whispered, like the words would reassure her. They didn't. And after a while, she fell asleep on the bench.

(Keefe's POV)
I didn't know where to check. So I needed to think like Sophie. If I were Sophie, and I were lost without anything to give me directions, where would I go?
Suddenly, it hit me. The only place she knew by heart was the park. Especially the place where we used to play.
"I'm coming, Foster." Keefe muttered as he ran across the street. He appeared at the entrance of the park and jumped over the tiny black fence. He sprinted to the nearest bench when he thought he saw someone sitting there. Nobody.
He sprinted to every bench.
He looked for those golden brown eyes.
He looked for that beautiful blonde hair.
But... He couldn't find her.
Not until time seemed to stop. His eyes finally settled on Sophie. She was laying on a green bench. And he recognized the bench.
It was the bench they'd eaten ice cream on for the first six years of their lives.
He couldn't help tears forming in his eyes as he sprinted over to Sophie. He checked her up and down for any cuts, bruises, scratches, or wounds. But... She was perfectly okay.
He sighed with relief. Then he hesitated. He didn't want to wake her up... But how else would he get her home? He wiped the tears from his eyes.
Keefe was just about to nudge her shoulder, when his arm seemed to freeze in the air. He sighed. Then he glanced around one more time before scooping Sophie up. She stirred a little bit, but Keefe was very gentle as he carried her out of the park. He stared down at her face.
She looked so peaceful. And calm. And he couldn't help wondering if she heard him when he said, "Just sleep, Foster. I've got you."
He carried her towards her house, careful not to wake her up as he took Grady and Edaline's spare key out from under their doormat, unlocked the door, and quietly slipped inside.
He gently put Sophie on the couch, slipping a blanket over her and putting the pink gulon in her arms. She had always needed a stuffed animal to sleep. But he didn't want to go up to her room and accidently wake Grady and Edaline.
"Goodnight, Foster." Keefe whispered. Then he sprinted back to his house.

(Sophie's POV)
Sophie woke with a startled squeal when she found Iggy fluttering in front of her face. Then all the memories came rushing back.
She wasn't on a bench in the park. She was on her couch. She started to get up when she found a familiar pink gulon on the floor. She picked it up, her eyes widening.
"Sophie?" Grady whispered. "You're back!" He hugged his daughter tightly.
"I'm so sorry, Dad. I got lost in the park, and... I think someone," She pointed to the gulon. "Brought me back here."
Grady's face flickered with realization.
"I'm gonna call him." Grady decided. He clicked his phone and disappeared into the other room. When he came back, his smile was relieved.
"Keefe carried you home from the park. He saved you even though... Even though I told him not to." Grady whispered. Sophie blinked.
"So that was the voice I heard..." Sophie mumbled. Thankfully, Grady didn't hear her. He just hugged her again.
"Come on, you need breakfast. Your next college class is at 11:00 am, right?" Grady said. Sophie nodded.
"And I'm in that class with Keefe... But I need to talk to him now." Sophie realized. She took the pink gulon and sprinted out the door, ignoring Grady's shouts. She jumped on her scooter and started pushing herself as fast as she could.
But at one moment, time seemed to slow down.
She let out a startled scream as she crashed into a car. Then everything went dark.
