"Suna?"
Suna turned towards the voice calling her name and there he stood. Kaya, dressed in all black with his shirt unbuttoned just a bit, his long coat barely scrapping the floor, and his silver chains gleaming against his tanned skin. Staring at the man she used to call her husband, Suna rose from the sofa. Tears settled in her eyes once again when she thought about why she had to call Kaya after years of silence.
Though she never told Kaya about the daughter they shared, she told their daughter about the man she loved. Every day, when Alara would ask about her baba, Suna would tell stories of who Kaya was and the time they spent together. Albeit, most of the memories were ridden in sorrow, Suna ensured her daughter didn't know that. She'd built a beautiful world in her own mind of how her father was a good man—a man who loved, cared, and would soon return to his wife and daughter. Suna didn't have the heart to destroy that image nor would she ever want to enlist a feeling of animosity between her daughter and Kaya.
And now as Suna walked towards him, she couldn't help but think about her precious daughter. Her beautiful daughter who had been snatched from her and now was missing.
Suna bit her lip, forcing her cries to be silenced as she stood in front of Kaya. "They took her," she choked out. "They took her away from me."
Kaya's eyes grazed over his wife's face, taking in her injuries and tear-stained cheeks. Since he boarded the flight from London, he was reeling over the fact that he had a child. Suna and him had a child, a daughter to be precise. In any other circumstance, perhaps he would've been upset with his wife for hiding such a big thing from him. But now, as he looked at her state, the only thing he could think of doing was wrapping her up in his arms and telling her everything would be alright.

It was a quiet night for the mother and daughter.
Suna hummed to herself as she wiped down the kitchen table after dinner when a patter of tiny footfalls entered the kitchen.
"Anne! Look! My new dress," a gleeful voice came from Suna's right.
With a soft smile, she turned towards her daughter and looked at her in amusement. "Is that what you'll sleep in tonight?"
"Yes," Alara said shyly. "And then my prince will come and wake me up. And then we'll live in a castle and I won't have to go to school tomorrow!" Alara grinned at her logic, happy with the prospect of not going to kindergarten.
"And I'll be the fairy godmother who turns you into a pumpkin so you don't run away," Suna played along but it only resulted in Alara dramatically rolling her eyes and smacking her palm against her own forehead.
