Ruby continued to surf throughout the day, Wally watched her surf, already in awe of her tricks. As the sun rose higher in the sky, Ruby decided to head back to shore for a small break and for something to drink from the juice bar. She dug a hole and put her surfboard in the hole before covering it up with her blanket and grabbed her beach bag and headed to the juice bar.
As Ruby approached the bar, Wally was already sitting at the bar. When he noticed she was walking over, he immediately turned around in his seat, blushing a bit. He was worried she'd notice him staring at her.
"Hi." Ruby said as she got closer to the juice bar.
Howdy turned around and smiled at her. "Hey there, I'm Howdy and I run this juice bar. You catch some nice waves?" Howdy asked her.
"I did. I'm fairly new here, I just moved here last night so what would you recommend I get?" Ruby asked Howdy.
"Well personally I'd recommend the grape smoothie but sometimes there's nothing wrong with an apple or banana smoothie, just ask Wally, he gets apple smoothies every time he's here at the beach." Howdy said as he turned his head to Wally, looking at him with a slight glare.
Wally rubbed the back of his neck from embarrassment as he chuckled. Ruby looked at him with confusion.
"He tries to steal apple smoothies all the time." Howdy said.
"Oh. I mean it's no worse than what I've been through." I said as I looked at the menu. I then realized I shouldn't have said that.
I turned my head and I saw Howdy and Wally look at me with confusion all over their faces. "What do you mean by that?" Wally asked me.
"Oh, just dealt with some rude people a lot in my old town." I said. "Can I have a banana smoothie please?" I asked Howdy.
"Sure thing, but you sure that's what you dealt with back at your old town?"
"Yeah, that's all. That's why I moved, I didn't like being around so many rude people. Besides I've always loved the beach, so this place is perfect for me." I said when Howdy handed me my banana smoothie.
I took a sip and I had stars in my eyes. It tasted so good and sweet. "Oh my god, this is so good." I told him.
"Howdy does make the best smoothies." Wally said.
"And since you're new here, your first smoothie is on me." Howdy said with a smile.
Wally looked at him with wide eyes and his mouth dropped. "You never do that for me or anyone else!"
"Because we're from here, she's not. There's a difference." Howdy said as he glared at Wally. I had already finished my smoothie and took that as my cue to leave. I left $20 on the counter, I was going to pay for the smoothie anyways. I grabbed my beach bag and headed back down to the beach and pulled my surfboard out of the sand and started waxing it again before I got back into the ocean. Wally did look cute when he was up there.
While I was surfing earlier, I noticed he was looking at me from the juice bar, watching me surf. I didn't mind it. I mean after all, I am new here to this town, and the new girl can surf just as good as anyone who's lived here. It's like I'm not just the new girl, but I'm the new surfer girl.
