Suspicious Love

Plot

     You wake up for school, not aware that the world around you has changed as you've slept. Everything seems normal, but is it? The birds chirp in the distance, the alarm you set goes off, everything's fine as it always is. You stare at the ceiling, the thought of this being your first day at a new school finally dawns on you; will you fit in? No one ever cares about the new kid unless he's messed up in the head or some power-hungry rich kid. But you're neither of those.. well not yet, anyway. You head downstairs to eat breakfast and greet your mother, yet she isn't there. You check around the house; left, right, left, right. She's nowhere in sight.. she wouldn't leave on your first day of school, would she? You've known her for years. You open the microwave and see a plate of scrambled eggs and bacon. The smell.. what smell is this? Scrambled eggs smell.. different than usual. You feel  hand on your shoulder, it makes you flinch a bit, it's your mother. How strange.. she was nowhere to be found, yet now she's here.
"Good morning, mom", you say with a smile and a yawn.. "David, did you feed the cat last night like I asked you to?" she asked. Cat? What cat? We don't own a cat.. "We don't have a cat, mom.".. "Oh.. yes, I forgot, I'm sorry.", she says reluctantly.
You get dressed and head out for the day, the taste of metallic scrambled eggs on your tongue. The town wasn't as crowded as this when you moved in, was it? The houses were almost as empty as the convenient store your mother made you drive by on your way to the new house. Upon arriving at the school, you notice a strange boy around your age waiting by the unopened gates. You feel drawn to him, as if you've met before yet you can't remember how.. you approach him and speak as if you two are familiar with each other. He grimaces at you. What's his problem? I just wanted to be friendly. He stares at you for what seems like forever, is he looking at you or through you? You can't tell at this point. He has this sort of mysterious vibe to him.. approachable yet there's a hint of something else. You swear you've seen him somewhere before, but where?
