I looked around the cabin. Although I avoided the eyes of the other two. Both of the boys looked unapproachable and brooding. I felt scared. I just hope that I don’t cross them.
“Stop staring.” Karson growled.
Karson was laying on his bed on his back with his arm over his eyes. I blushed out of embarrassment.
“Sorry.” I apologized.
Vallen groaned out, sounding annoyed. I sat against the wall and tucked my legs up to my chest. Then laid my head on my arms. I miss my mom. She is an amazing woman.
When I came out as genderfluid and pansexual, she fully accepted me. She actually threw me a coming out party. We would go to all the pride parades in the state. I’m so grateful for her not kicking me out or worse. I felt tears roll down my cheeks. I raised my head to wipe my eyes. Karson sat up suddenly, facing me.
“Why are you crying?” He said bluntly.
I glared at him, but returned to laying my head on my arms.
Soon Mr. Sander came to get us for dinner. I sat with Kelly and Vallen. But Vallen only sat quietly, watching me and Kelly converse. Karson is sitting with another group.
Afterwards, we all went to a room that had five chairs in the center of the room. There was a chair in the corner near the door. A short woman came into the room.
“Good evening. Sit, sit. Don’t be shy.” She encouraged us.
We sat in the chairs. She sat in the remaining chair. Mr. Sander sat in the chair in the corner.
“First off, state your name and your charges. Oh my name is Ms. Burke.” She said with a smile.
I really don’t want to be first. No one stood up for a quick minute. But then Kelly stood up.
“Kelly Hill; charged with assault of a teacher,” she stated.
She sat back down in her chair. Vallen, Karson, nor I would stand up. So Ms. Burke closed her eyes and randomly pointed at Karson. He grumbled about how this isn’t fair.
“Karson James; charged with street fighting,” Karson said.
Karson looked annoyed and aggravated. I think he could have anger issues. Vallen was picked next. He stood up without any complaints.
“Vallen Martin; charged with theft,” he said.
Then Vallen sat back down and began staring at the floor blankly. I finally stood up as it was my turn.
“Flynn Hughes; charged with vandalism. Although I was given permission, they didn’t like my painting,” I said, “Homophobic hexes.” I muttered next.
I sat back down with my arms crossed. Kelly must have heard me as for she patted my knee.
“Good, Good. That should wrap this up.” Ms. Burke said, clapping her hands together, excitedly.
Mr. Sander stood up from his chair.
“Let’s go back to your cabins, now,” he said.
So we all followed him out of the room. Once back in the cabin, I quickly rushed into the bathroom to change into my pajamas. Vallen was staring off into space once I exited the bathroom. Karson went in after me. I laid down in my bed exhausted, quickly falling asleep.
I woke to the sound of rustling. Vallen was standing by the window just staring out it. I sat up slowly. His head snapped towards me, scaring the living heck out of me.
He was stiff and his eyes were like two cold pieces of emeralds. He walked over to me. Something is wrong, I just can’t place my finger on it.
His hand shot out and wrapped around my throat. I fell back onto the bed. He climbed on top of me wrapping his other hand around my throat. He tightened his grip, choking me.
I fought to throw him off. I clawed at his hands, trying to get a breath. I tried to scream, but it came out as a mixture of gurgles.
“Who are you?! Where are we?!” he yelled.
Karson shot up out of bed. He looked around at first before locking eyes with me. He rushed over to me and started to pull Vallen off of me.
I’m guessing that we made a lot of noise because Mr. Sander charged in. With the help of Karson, they successfully pulled Vallen off of me.
I sat up coughing and sucking in lungfuls of air. Mr. Sander got Vallen restrained before coming to me. I had tears streaming down my face.
“Hey, hey. Shh~ You’re okay now.” he said, pulling me into his side slowly.
I laid my head against his chest. It took me a little while to calm down. Once I did, I quickly pulled away.
“Karson, can you take Flynn to the cafeteria? I’ll be there in a second.” Mr. Sander said.
Karson helped me up and guided me to the cafeteria. I leaned heavily into him. Shortly after, Kelly came into the cafeteria.
“Hey, I heard what happened. How are you doing?” they asked.
I shrugged slightly, rubbing my throat. She sat down next to me. Karson was dozing off in front of me. I feel a little bad for him. I actually feel tired too.
Soon enough Mr. Sander and Vallen joined us. My heart started to race as I made eye contact with Vallen. His eyes were still so cold. It caused a chill to run down my spine.
Vallen gave me a creepy smile before sitting down at the table nearest to Mr. Sander. I shivered from the cold feeling that it gave off. Mr. Sander called everyone's attention to him.
“Okay, I know that what happened this morning gave everyone a fright. But we must stick to schedule. Flynn, I’ll take you over to our doctor who is on stand-by.” Mr. Sander said.
I nodded softly in response to his statement. After breakfast, the doctor checked my throat and the bruises. He just said that I’ll have a sore throat for a while and medium bruising.
