There was a blue fish swimming by, and it glanced at a shimmery stone. The fish, of course knew all about the stone's magical power, and they made wishes on it once every year. Most of them were wishes that caused them to make it through fishing season. However, this blue fish, had not made her wish. She then thought about her wish. The blue fish decided to save it for later, when she really needed it. She then swam up to the surface, careful not to be seen. After all, she was a rare fish, worth lots of money. Not very many of her kind were left. There was a human boy that walked by, and he looked incredibly handsome, unlike all of the other sailors. He had a wonderful face, and he was built pretty well. His hair fell perfectly, ad it was cut at the right length. Most sailors had buzz cuts, but not this one. The blue fish suddenly had an urge to be with him. He was so handsome, and she thought she loved him.
Out she blubbered, "I wish I could be a human today."
Suddenly, there was light, and the blue fish grew, and grew. Her fin split into legs, her scales turned to smooth skin, her face changed to a human one, hair grew long and brown, and her fins wrapped around her into a dress. A force pushed her out of the water and she was on the boardwalk, in the handsome man's arms.
"Are you okay?" the man asked.
"Yes," the blue fish replied in a silky voice.
"Why are you wearing seaweed?" he asks, confused.
"Because I hear it's very good for the skin," she replies.
"You're funny. I like you. How about I go and buy you some real clothes," he says laughing.
"Okay," the fish replies as they walk off.
"So, what's your name?" he asks.
"Uhh...my name? Oh my name! It's uhh...Blue," she says, trying to sound calm.
"Interesting name," he says.
The two talked for hours, learning each others likes and dislikes. The young sailor bought the fish a dress that fit her new figure perfectly. They got dinner, and walked along the boardwalk, and then, he kissed her. She kissed him back. At that moment, they knew they were meant for each other. The day was coming to a close, and the fish could feel the magic starting to wear off.
"I should go," the fish says urgently.
"When will I see you again?" he asks.
"I don't know," she replies solemnly.
"Well, I am going to leave and travel the world tomorrow. If you want, come meet me at the dock tomorrow. I hope I see you there," he says before reaching in for a kiss.
"Till' tomorrow," Blue says.
When she could no longer see the handsome sailor, the blue fish ran off. She dove into the water, and she became a fish.
"Now, how will I see him tomorrow," thought the blue fish.
So caught up in her feelings, she forgot that the yearly wish ceremony was to begin soon. All of the other fish swam past her quickly. She followed, and she became so full of joy when she realized what was going on. Blue fish quickly thought of the best wish in the world. She could make their two worlds come together with her wish.
Blue fish made her wish and began to swim up to the rocks, by where the boat would pass early next morning. Despite the fact that she was so full of joy, she fell asleep before her wish was fully fulfilled.
When she woke up, she saw the boat heading towards her in the mist. She sang out to the ship so the sailor would hear her. When the boat turned towards her voice, she was overcome with joy. She and the sailor would live together forever, until death.
She looked down to admire her legs, but they weren't there. There was a big fat fish tail. Angry she dove into the water. Right after she splashed, she heard a crunch. The boat crashed into the rocks. Fearful, she swam up to the surface, searching frantically for her sailor. Instead, she saw her love on the ground. Unsure of what to do, she went to get help. She swam for hours searching for her colony, then she decided to swim back to the boat. When she arrived the boat was gone. She went back on the rock, singing the song of her love. From then on, it lured ships to their death. The blue fish never saw her love after her second wish.
