little Red

how it started

It all started when I was six and I sneaked out to run in the woods. I was goofing around in my wolf form when I found a fox . I knew immediately it wasn't just a fox because it was bigger and red as fresh blood with glowing green eyes. But I was a curious child and didn't have much friends so I started to play with him . At first he was shy but with time he warmed up to me.
Months went by and we were playing almost every day. I even noticed him lurking sometimes around when I wasn't a wolf . Looking fascinated and little bit surprised like he didn't get how I did that. Which felt weird because I knew he must've been partially human too. But it all made sense once one day he took me to his den . There was laying very old and very sick female fox. But that was it she was just a fox . Could that mean that the poor boy wasn't raised by humans at all? It would explain why he was so perplexed by my human form .
He sniffed and put his head on her like he was hoping she would wake up . But her heartbeat was too slow almost nonexistent . I didn't know what to do so I snuggled to him trying to console him. As if the female fox was waiting for it her heart finally gave up. The little fox howled in pain and looked at me . " What do I do now?" Was the question in his eyes. So I nudged him out to help me dig a grave . After we took care of it I changed back into human , took him in my arms and started walking to my house . We had to stop in the outskirts of the woods so I could get my clothes and then we were finally on my doorsteps. Just then I became aware of how scared we both were . Him because of new territory and me because I didn't know how my family would react . The door opened and there stood my mother " what the underworld is going on ? You reack of distress." " Hi mum . This is Red . Can we keep him ? His mother just died ...." Ah the look on her face was priceless " what do you mean his mother just died ? Do I need to call police ? " Well at least she realized he's a werefox " nope not really it looks like he was raised by actual fox we just buried her. I'm not even sure he knows how to change I only ever saw him like this . " " Well then come inside this isn't something we should decide here. "
We went through living room where all my siblings were watching TV and ofcourse they looked at us. Just when they wanted to start asking questions mother just gave them The look and the stoped themselves. Then she took us to library and nudged us to sit on one of the pillows that were scattered every where. " Well then start explaining. How did you find this little one ? " She demanded. So I did . I told there everything even tho she looked furious when I said I was sneaking around . Wolfing out with him without anyone else around .... " Do you even know how dangerous it was ? It still is? What would happen if someone saw you changing? " Okay so she was maybe little bit furious with me . But that didn't matter because..." He's mine. I had to see him. The first time was just stupid yes but then I had to. My wolf told me he belongs to us . " She squirmed and then.... She just started to laugh . " Oh gods.... Well first he's not an object he doesn't really belong to you . But sure if you feel the pull it explains how he's still calm in your arms in new territory. I'll talk to your father. But for now go to your room. Better not overwhelm him right now."
Just then I breathed out not realizing how tense I was the whole time. I looked at Red excited and then back to mum " thanks " she just raised an eyebrow " don't even think that you're not grounded tho . " " Ahhhh ..... Okay . As long as he can stay...." I said standing up . Red still safely in my arms looking at me with questions.

As I told the last sentence I realized everyone was hardly awake " go to your rooms and get some sleep I can continue tomorrow." With some dissatisfied growls they eventually stood up . Still wrapped in they blankets they all disappeared in they rooms . Red looked at me also sleepy and eventually followed me into our room . I helped him onto bed wrapping us in blankets . He cradled into my arms like a baby . Just like when we were children . Which I guess he actually were now . " I'll fix it my love . Now sleep you had exhausting day ." I said and kissed him into his fur while he finally closed his eyes. I couldn't help myself and watched him for a little longer before i fall asleep as well.
