As I walked down the dirt path leading to my dilapidated house, I wondered how I could survive the next few days. My stomach growled, a sign that I needed to eat something, but I couldn't figure out how to get food. As I tried to think of a solution, I heard the snapping of twigs behind me. I slowly turned my head, only to see a little rabbit. My instincts immediately screamed "food!" Without thinking, I leaped for the rabbit, but it was faster than I was.I landed on the ground, with a sprained ankle. I cursed my clumsiness and my bad luck. "Why is all this happening to me?" I thought. "What did I ever do to deserve this? I've got no family, and nothing good ever comes my way. Now I've sprained my ankle on top of everything else." I hated my life, and I didn't know that everything was about to change.
