ANNABETH'S POV:

Two weeks later, I still don't want to be the damsel in distress. No hero for me, I'll be the one fighting the dragons. Me and Percy became closer friends, talking every night over the phone and talking during lunch, too. Piper and Thalia kept teasing me about a boyfriend. I turned them down every time, reminding them of my past traumatic relationship. And how Percy was a friend, and nothing more. Percy said the same thing about me as well.

After Piper finally came back on Wednesday, we did what we planned and introduced him to Jason and Leo. They immediately became really good friends. Percy ended up making it into the swim team. More news for sports: The track field was being renovated, so Track was canceled as an elective. Piper and I thought it'd be fun if we joined music with Percy and Thalia, so we did.

More things to find out about Percy: He's an incredible guitar player and a really good piano player. He can also play drums, but not as good as Thalia can. Mr. Apollo, or Lester, as all his students call him, apparently knew Percy from a different school as his top student and was pleasantly surprised to see him. Other than that, nothing really special happened.

"Hey, where's Percy?" I asked, just then realizing he was missing from our regular group lunch table. There was a storm outside, so basketball and football were canceled, so the only person that should've been missing was Leo.

"Wouldn't you like to know?" Thalia said, laughing. I glared at her, and she shrugged. I looked around, and everyone had the same response.

"I'll go look for him." I said, standing up, "I'll be right back."

I walked to the entrance of the cafeteria only to hear distant laughing from our table. Piper or Thalia must have made a joke about us dating. They always did. I ignored it and walked down the hall, looking in each classroom for him. A part of me was slightly worried. He didn't know the school layout that well, so he must have wandered and got lost. Or he could have been in a classroom working on some studying. Percy wasn't the type of person to go to the library during lunch or study, really. He only went with me and the rest of the group. After passing what felt like a million classrooms, my instincts told me that he was in the music room. Why? I have no idea. I decided to trust them and started making my way there.

After a flight of stairs and a whole bunch of walking, I heard his voice. It didn't seem like he was talking. Or maybe he was, but it was muffled by a classroom door. I wasn't sure. I went with my original plan and went to the music room, passing hallway after hallway in an empty school. Everyone, even the freshmans, juniors, and sophomores, were at lunch. Everyone else was on the 3rd floor, where most of the elective classrooms were. After a little bit, his voice kept getting louder and louder. I reached the music room and I saw him. All of the classrooms had indoor windows, so you could see what was going on in the class. He wasn't facing me so he didn't see me.

I wondered what he was doing. It looked like he was playing guitar and doing something else. Was he... singing? No, that couldn't be him. Whoever was singing sounded way too good for how he described his own singing abilities. He'd made it very clear when we first met that he was not a singer, and this voice was way too good for someone to say that. Even the most humble person out there wouldn't be able to say that without being considered lying. I looked around the room from the window. There was no one else in the room. It was just him. To my surprise, he was singing. He was playing guitar on the piano seat and had an open notebook in front of him. It looked like he was singing out the lyrics he was reading.

It was very stalker of me to be staring at him through a classroom window, but it was hypnotizing seeing him work like that. Seeing him stop his music midway to change a note or two. I couldn't quite hear his voice properly. I got annoyed, and I snuck in. I was curious, okay? Thankfully, he didn't notice me. He was focused. One thing I knew about him was that when he was focused, he was focused. He had ADHD, so it was hard for him to do it in the first place. But when he was, he was determined. Usually, all of his senses would block out, as he described, The only things he heard or focused on were what he was doing. In this case, he was singing and playing guitar. It looked like he was working on a song of some sort. The door was pretty quiet, and I'd say I was pretty quiet, too, so sneaking in wasn't that hard.
