My hot take on y/ns 😇

I'm getting more annoyed at the fact that there are less male y/n(s) or practically just gender neutrals being made. Everytime I look at a good book description (Gives SOME context about story line, not pronouns whatsoever) I'm like, "Wow this is great!" I look in the first chapter – BAM!!

"Y/n is a LONELY girl with NO parents, she gets ABUSED by HER foster mom and dad and SHES SO depressed. At school shes BULLIED and has no friends! Though one of her BULLIES is Jake, he's a JOCK, POPULAR with everyone, has PARTY'S EVERY Saturday, and super hot!! blah blah blah they KISS, MARRY, BIRTH CROTCH GOBLINS, DIE."

And it's so annoying, I'm not mad at it being specifically a female, I've got nothing against that {But usually female y/ns are..ick or just weird} (though I'd like to see more male ones, they are usually great) Its just that almost every book that seems good has the same damn y/n, less creativity being used unlike with the male/gn ones because they usually have spice and less unrealistic standards depending on the story line.

Stereotypes for f!y/n: (Most used commonly and not creative, pls istg make it INTERESTING IM BEGGING)

1: Badass y/n - "She cares about nothing! she hits all her bullies, she doesn't care what you think! she likes wearing cool clothes and cursing 🤬!"

(Cursing is like most of their personality istg, get an actual hobby)

2: Softie y/n: "She is soooo cute and nice!! she talks to animals like bunnies! her soft fluffy unicorn hair always flows as it's sOoO long! she's also SUPEERRRR oblivious!! if someone says they like her she'll be like, 'Oh?~ b-b-b-but I don't know what you mean....Like..what ...way???..' but its SOOOOOO CUTE Omg 😖😖!!!!!!!!" girl no.

(Most of their personality is built on just stuttering and their "soft" clothes or just being a damn butterfly.)

3: pretty y/n - "Y/n is a beautiful loved gorgeous talented elegant young girl with long locks of hair, beautiful ORBS (god no) a pretty short ROSE colored dress and a THIN but THICC figure 🥵!! everyone that looks at her falls in love because she's so beautiful and amazing! even the school loner/bully!!"

(Being "beautiful" is literally they're whole personality.)

you obviously have more stereotypes but those are the very main three used that I see, VERY VERY commonly which makes it hard for me to find a GOOD book.

Now I'm not saying having a style is bad (Do whatever yk), but if your making it they're whole personality that's not fun to read and enjoy because its very annoying, repetitive, unrealistic, not creative, and cringe.

(Just gotta say it straight forward, don't make them a damn Ai robot. please.)

Now some aren't that bad, they're are usually some with those stereotypes but toned down so its ig better. But still its literally like a fucking cringe harem full of thirsty simps in the story lines or it's just embarrassing "depressing" plot lines.

This isn't ment to offend anyone, but this is just my take on stuff lately.

you also have stereotypes on male/gn y/n (but they're usually not that bad, the most common ones I see are probably overpowered y/n and bad guy'~' y/n) but at least they have SOME spice, SOME shit, JUST SOMETHING.

I might as well just have an aneurysm, I mean all the good male/gn y/n books I could FIND and There's still NOT ENOUGH ARRRRRRGGGYYISJEHWIS 😭😭
