"Jade, you have to get up and start getting ready for school!" May pounded her fist on my bedroom door. May, you could say, was my mother. Well, no, that would be a lie. She was actually my personal princess tutor; my real parents had hired to act like my real mother.
Now that I live in Coronia, the last thing I need is for anyone to know who I really am. I, America Jade Ambrose Singer, am the princess of Cantania, my beautiful country.
When I was young I had an awful life threatening experience, so my parents rationally decided to send me to Coronia with my personal trainers and bodyguards to act like my real family. 'That way,' they told me, 'you will be safer. As long as no one knows who you are, you'll be fine. This is temporary---just until you are trained and old enough to come back and reclaim my position and duties in the palace.
At the age of eleven (it took a year for my parent's decision to settle) I flew a plane with my "family" to here in Coronia, to begin a new life. Knowing that Coronia was Cantania's neighboring country might be a down fall but the fact that not many people cared about the royal family was perfect. We moved into a smaller area and began attending to school right away. I used my middle name and if anyone got suspicious of our relation to the King and Queen, we brush it off and call it a coincidence. After that, no further questions were asked.
I've been living in Coronia for the past 6 years and you could call it my home away from home.. or maybe even just 'home.' I've been living here with lies long enough to call it that anyway. No one knew my real identity. Well, no one except my best friend Aiden Michael. And I planned to keep it that way. I could trust him with my life. So just like any normal 17 year old, I had to go to school.
"No, I don't" I retorted back to her, my voice muffled inside the fabric of my pillow. Sometimes this is what we had to go through in the mornings- an ongoing battle to get me out of bed. Our relationship was what you could call 'mother-daughter' since I do consider her like my own mum; as she considers me like her own daughter.
"Yes, you do and a princess is never late." She replied, sternly. The banging on the door stopped as her footsteps leave and fade down the hall way.
I pushed myself up from bed. Why do bodies have to be so heavy in the morning? Dragging myself out of bed like a zombie, I stumbled upon the mirror. Running my hands through the strands of my hair color of the month, I smiled. Life wasn't so bad. Yeah, I didn't live with my parents, but I kind of liked the normal life I was leading here.
"Good morning self," I sarcastically spoke to my reflection, "you're looking like normal seventeen year old today." With that, I stepped away from my hideous morning reflection and out of my room.
Sometimes, and that wasn't very often, it was hard to put on a smile, Truth be told, I really did miss my parents. But I have a life down here now and as much as I'd like to move back to Cantania, I'd miss it here so much.
"Morning, Jay" Samantha greeted me from down the hallway.
"Morning," I murmured back to her. I'm not that much of a morning person. You could say that I got along with Samantha just like any other sibling would - and of course I'm lying again. She's actually Cantania's best female body guard (my real parents also hired to act like my real big sis.) and even though we both led a secret life, she still drove me insane sometimes; being around 24/7, overly protective and since she's three years older than me, we both attended the same high school.
"I'm driving us to school this morning, okay? I need to pick up Nate on the way." She informed me. I didn't really feel answering her as she walked past me and walked down the stairs, sliding his hand along the rail.
"That's fine!" I called out. Sam and I did have our ups and downs, but surely, when it came to looking out for each other, we were both always there. Us two needed to stick together and we had a special bond that was just about unbreakable.
