Every time she closed her eyes, Irina could only see red. She knew she hated the color, but she couldn't remember why. She thought a lot about it. It was the color of blood, but that couldn't be the reason. She saw blood every time she was awake. Maybe it had something to do with before. What happened before? She wasn't sure. Although Irina hated the color red, it gave her a sense of certainty. Like she'd always know what was about to happen whenever she saw red. She did always know what was about to happen after red. She'd close her eyes and see red, then the pain would start. A pain so strong that maybe red wasn't that bad after all.
Every time he opened his eyes, Wilhelm cried. Guards were beating him for leaving his cell, although he told them multiple times he didn't mean to. His parents were dead, not that they ever cared about him. They were killed by the very same thing that gave him the ability to exit his cell at night, the scepter. He didn't know why he survived or how to control the power it gave him. The only thing he was sure of was that he wanted to kill everyone in that building. Everyone except for the woman in the cell next to him, she was a victim as much as he was.
