"Ah!" I screamed as my uncle threw me to the ground, chastising, "How could you fail? Don't you know failure has no place here!"
"Ah, uncle, please forgive me!" I pleaded, grasping his leg like a desperate servant.
"Poor Raya," he sighed, rising to his feet. "Our perfect assassin, the one who never made a mistake in her life. But after years of flawless work, you finally made an error. How should I punish you, the daughter of my dear departed brother?" He spoke while gripping my face, his eyes bloodshot with anger, then abruptly released me.
"Uncle, I'm so sorry. I'll accept any punishment you give, but please, forgive me. I'll do anything," I said, my voice trembling with nervousness, knowing his mercy was unlikely.
"Anything?" he questioned sharply.
"Yes, anything!" I replied, resolute.
"Then I will send you to the academy—the Academy of Cooperation between the two kingdoms. You know, the Kingdom of Light, being so afraid from us, chose to establish this academy to avoid war with us. Every noble family must send one of its strongest sons. Since I don't wish to send one of my sons, you will go in place of my daughter, Elissa," he explained.
"Yes, sir," I answered obediently.
"Good. Get up. You know how to read, write, understand history, laws, and science—all necessary for your work. You're ready. I'll submit your name to the academy. It starts next week. But remember, your primary purpose there is to complete the mission you failed. Now, you may go."
