You know, for somebody who just got teleported into another dimension, the kid sure seemed happy.
...
Oh, I never introduced myself. My name is Lucas. I'm a teen from.. well.. nowhere, I guess. They're called the Nowhere Islands, but that's a contradiction, isn't it? The Somewhere Islands have somewhat of a better ring.
I'm getting distracted. Sorry, it's been a long day. I started the day with a full family: a brother, mother, and father. Now it's just my father left. My Mom, Hinawa, got killed by a dragon in the morning, and then my idiotic twin-brother Claus vanished to look for her. To make matters worse, there's been new... creatures appearing around town. Gross pig-looking humans supposedly from another dimension.
Anyways, I ran out looking for my brother, when I heard a loud crack from the forest ahead. A red and white blinding light suddenly emerged for a short second, then fizzled out just as fast. I turned to investigate, but my efforts were pointless. A boy my age immediately walked out of the forest like a lost puppy, then ran towards at the sight of me. He wore shorts, a t-shirt, and a red cap, which sadly covered up his thick black hair.
"Hey! Are you.. Lucas?" He asks, bluntly.
"Y-Yea" I stutter, caught off guard by how this stranger immediately knew my name. "How-"
"Oh my god.. where am I? What's going on? How could this have happened?" He blurts out.
"Are you ok? And aren't you cold? Why are you wearing shorts in this-" I'm cut off immediately. Rude.
"I have to get out of here. Teleport!"
"Who are you, why did you know my name, and what are you doing here?" My temper rises.
"Teleport!"
"SHUT UP" I yell, finally pissed off at this kid's ignorance of me. "Ok. I'm sorry. Answer me, please"
"O-oh. You're right. I'm sorry, i'm being rude." He sputters. "My name's Ness. I'm just like you, really. If you're even real. Here, let's walk and I'll explain." He gestures towards the path back to the villages.
He starts off walking, and I follow a few seconds behind. I mentally try and digest everything he's said so far in my head. It quickly proves to me too much, so I focus on one thing: when he screams Teleport. I've heard my friend Kumatora yell that exact same phrase when using what she calls "PSI". She refuses to teach me anything about PSI, though, other then that it grants her special powers, like starting a fire out of nothing. Maybe I could get some more info out of this kid.
"C'mon!" Ness yells behind him, then waits for me to catch up. "Anyways, earlier I was playing this new video game called Mother 3. It takes place on a land called the Nowhere Islands, and it starts with a boy's mother being killed, and his brother running away. Sound familiar?"
Shocked would be an vast understatement of my feelings here. This had described my past day in scarily accurate detail. I slowly nod, unsure whether to respond or not.
"That's what I thought. Your brother's a jerk, you know? My sister would never run away from home. Anyways, as I painstakingly explored a forest in the game I got met with a rock. It was one of those cool-ass interactions you see in games. You never know what's going to happen until you click it, and that's exactly what I did. Then I blinked, and suddenly I appeared here, and your cute face was staring at me." Ness winked, and I looked away.
"I-I was worried about you for a second. Zip it." I stuttered, slightly annoyed.
"Anyways, can you help find me a way back? I'm sure I can make it worth your while." He states, smiling in a way that might or might not be weird.
Claus should be back soon. "Fuck it. Why not?"
