Chapter 1 ~ Aloha Oahu

After a long nap on the plane, we finally landed in hell. "You only have to last 6 months" I kept telling myself, so that I wouldn't flip out. My parents promised me that BH would be my home for 4 years, they lied. How could they, they knew I was happier there than I had been in a VERY long time. It had become my home, and I loved it. But I knew my parents and they never keep anything good. So here I was in my own living hell, dreaming of the day when I turn 18 and say "Adiòs" to my parents and finish high school where I belong.

Even though I considered this my living hell, I had to admit, it was just as beautiful as I remembered it; the palm trees, the beach, the warm breeze on my legs. I forgot to mention this, but this was my home town. On August 14, 1997 I was born in Oahu, Hawaii and my parents couldn't have been happier. For about 7 years we stayed there, my parents tying to force a smile when they had to decline an offer so that I could have a normal childhood. But just before my 8th birthday, my parents told me we had to move to Australia for my moms work. So off we went, and I never thought I would be back ever again. Against all my efforts to stay in BH for high school, my parents decided that Oahu was our home.

As you can tell, my parents decide a lot of things, sometimes they have my best interests at heart (which rarely happens) or they're just trying to save their deals and contracts from falling through. This was one of those times.

"Do you remember this house, sweetie?" My mother says snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Of course I do," I responded, not recalling a thing from this hell hole, but there was something familiar about it, probably the huge ass door that we entered through into our huge as living room. It was gorgeous, with soft wooden furniture frames and white cushions, with a few pops of light blue accessories. It was the dream home my parents had been talking about my whole life, and now we were living in it.

"Miss Noël, your room is upstairs and third door to your left," the maid informed me. "Dinner will be served in 30 mins. I have laid out your outfit for this evenings dinner. If there is anything else you need just yell Greta and I will happily assist you."

I thanked Greta and moved up to my room. My things were unpacked and out away properly, and my pictures were all hung up and placed in the right spots. I walked over to my night stand where a picture of Brenna and I sat, and I felt my eyes water remembering our first summer of cheer camp, when we snuck out of our rooms and went to a party of campus. Brenna loved the excitement, she would laugh and talk to and with everyone, she was the ultimate party girl. Eventually, I walked towards my desk where a picture of Matt giving me a piggy back sat. Matt was my first official boyfriend and one of my best friends, so it was extremely hard to say goodbye to him.

"Noël, dinner time!" My mother announced, once again snapping me out of my thoughts. Why was I so caught up in my thoughts recently. I threw on the white lace dress and the white cork wedges Greta had laid out for me, and headed down stairs.

During dinner there was an awkward silence followed by awkward small talk and then more silence. When dessert finally came (it was lemon meringue pie, my favorite) I realized something was up. My parents not only got the chefs to make my favorite meal, lemon orzo with shrimp, but they also served my favorite dessert. At first I thought it was just because they felt guilty, but with the awkward silence and small talk I knew they weren't telling me something.

"What aren't you telling me?" I flat out asked.

My parents looked at each other with a shocked expression, before my mom answered. "Your father and I have to leave tomorrow for one of my photo shoots. Normally we would do it here but my clients next competition is in Australia and it starts in a few days. So we're going to hop on a plane tomorrow and get shots of him before, during and after his competition. We're so sorry sweetie."

"But we did get you a present to apologize," my dad said, perking up slightly. "It's out front. Go take a look!"

I excused myself from the table and headed out front, half expecting it to be my long lost sibling. But when I stepped outside, I squealed a bit, my parents bought me a Jeep. I know that kind of sounds lame, but ever since I watched the Parent Trap with Lindsey Lohan, I've always wanted one. I turned around and hugged my parents, "thank you soooooooooo much!!!!!" My parents looked a little confused, because I never hugged them any more, but they graciously hugged me back. After that I ran at top speed up to my room and called Brenna.

"Bren, guess what?" I squealed into the phone "my parents got me a car!"

"No way! Is it the jeep you've had your eye on?" She asked knowing exactly which one I wanted.

"Ya! I thing the got it because they felt guilty, but either way they got it for me so I'm happy."

"That's great news. Hey so I was wondering if I could send you over a few girls audition tapes?"

"Audition tapes for what?" I asked confused, even though I knew the answer.

"Mrs. Keaton wants us to replace you with a freshman, even though I tried to convince her you would be back. She said that if for any reason you weren't able to make it back for regionals, we had to find a new member. But don't worry, but the time you're back Kali and Aly will be gone and your captain seat will be waiting for you."

"Alright send them over, I'll take a look at them tomorrow, and we can talk then. I'm totally jet lagged. TTYL!! And tell Matt I love him and miss him."

"Kk. Kisses!" Brenna says before we both hung up.

After that I called Greta and asked her if she could bring me some lemon tea. For about an hour I drank my tea and checked me Instagram feed. When I looked at the clock it was already 11:00. So I grabbed some pajamas, and brushed my teeth before heading to bed. Tomorrow was Saturday so I didn't have to worry about going to school. I turned out my light and fell fast asleep.
