PACIFIC COAST ACADEMY WASN'T just for boys anymore. It was a boarding school that recently allowed girls to attend. And did they ever!
Penelope Jane Clark was especially excited to go to PCA. Not just because her little brother, Lucas, was there, but also due to the fact that it had dormitories, swimming pools and a beach just across the street. PCA also had the best teachers in the country, but that wasn't as interesting to her.
With shiny blonde hair and bright blue eyes, Penelope, who much preferred to be called Penny, was a very pretty thirteen year old girl. She knew she'd miss her friends from her old school but she didn't mind too much since she didn't have many.
Perhaps Penny's father would have driven her to PCA much faster. If her little brother didn't need to use the bathroom. Or, in his emergency case, behind a tree. After all, the small boy was holding twenty ounces of water in his ten ounce bladder.
When Penny finally arrived at PCA, however, she was immediately won over by the Californian boarding school - it looked so beautiful!
With the Clark's family car parked by the student drop off, Penny waited for her father to find out where her dormitory is. Lucas, on the other hand, was busy getting all their luggage out from the car.
And that was when Penny managed to catch the attention of him - Chase Bartholomew Matthews.
Chase, a curly-haired dorky boy in a striped polo shirt, blue jeans and a green helmet, was riding over on his bicycle when he noticed Penny by the curb. "Hey." He greeted, with a wave.
Penny smiled at Chase in a friendly way, as she waved back to him. "Hey!" She replied.
Too busy staring at the beautiful blonde in front of him, Chase didn't notice the flagpole his bicycle was headed towards.. before he let out a yelp, smacked into it, collapsed upon the ground and caused the blue and purple PCA Stingray flag to fall down with him. His bike had fallen onto its side.
Penny gasped, and hoped Chase wasn't too badly hurt. "Oh, God! Are you okay?" She asked the boy, after she hurried over to him in concern.
Chase quickly got up on his feet. "Uh, yeah! I was just, uh.." He casually replied, then got the large flag off his back. "..checking the flag.. it's a flag."
"Noted." Penny joked, with a nod. Chase smirked, stopped when he noticed her concerned look had returned. "But, uh.. your arm's bleeding." She said, then pointed to Chase's left elbow. It was bleeding.
Luckily, Chase didn't seem too panicked about the blood on his arm. "Oh, yeah. Uh, sorry. That-That, you know, that's what happens when.. uhm.. when I get wounded." He acknowledged. He was known, by his friends, to be quite the accident prone.
"I'm Penny," said Penny, with a hand on her chest and another smile. Chase nodded, before he pointed to thumbs to himself and said, "Chase. So, uh.. are you, like, a new student here at PCA?"
Chase immediately seemed to realise the stupidity of his question, before Penny had the chance to answer. The bushy-haired boy smacked the bike helmet on his hand, with both palms of his hands, then said, "Okay, tha-that was a stupid question. I mean, why else would you be here? I-I guess you could be, like, dropping someone off. Or, uh-"
When Chase realised he had been talking for far too long, he paused, pointed to his elbow and asked, "You know what? I'll bleed, you talk. What's up?"
Penny let out a giggle. "Uhm.. other than being a new student here, nothing much." She replied.
"Cool. Yeah, I think it's great that PCA's finally letting in girls. And, uh.. you probably did, too, being a girl and all. No offense," said Chase.
"None taken," said Penny, whilst she shook her head, "I've been a girl all my life and it's terrific!"
