When Galdon woke, his entire body was covered and he stood, shaking himself free of the sand. Walking over to the large cube, he made a parting in the air surrounding the glass and touched its surface to see if it had cooled. The cube was slightly warm to the touch but solid.
"Alright, time to see how quickly this thing can get me down there."
Galdon released the air of Colonderé from around the cube and stepped inside. Calling on Colonderé again, he focused a wall of air to seal the cube closed on the side that was open behind him. He then reached out in front of himself using Colonderé to tug on air and pull the cube over the side of the mountain.
As the cube tilted forward over the edge, he then reversed the air and aimed it at the sand on the ground. The intention was to create an indented pathway for the cube so that he could guide his way down to the bottom.
However, when the edge of the cube met the side of the slope, the entire object began to flip forward. Thinking quickly, Galdon pushed with air against the sand to force the bottom of the cube back to the side of the slope.
Instead of falling back against the side, the flow of air worked like a catapult, launching the entire cube. For a moment, Galdon's body floated in midair within the cube. Then the cube fell hard against the side of the mountain and shattered.
Galdon felt blades of glass slice into his limbs and torso. He screamed. Bouncing against the side of the slope he flew into the air again, then bashed back into the ground. He could hear his forearms snap from the pressure as he tried to catch himself with his hands.
Again, he rebounded into the air, this time falling head down, neck first onto the surface. His body went limp and there was nothing he could do as his body rolled and beat its way down Mount Sonsí.
