"Seems this is the time. The time I finally break," I say to myself.
I get up and notice how empty the house seems. There's a hidden energy that is foreign to my mind. I listen, but I hear silence. A dreadful silence that I hate, and know means bad. A thought. Nikki. Was she still here?
"Nikki?" I slightly yell. "You there."
Nothing comes back. I am hit with the thought of am I now alone, alone with my thoughts of nightmare after nightmare. A never ending spew of the reality that there is no reality to me. I feel broken. I take a deep breath, and close my eyes for a moment. I open them back up, and lift my hands up to my face. I stare them, I stare because my very hands the things I use for practically any and everything is a lie inside of the lie of me. I clench my hand into a fist, and dig my untrimmed finger nails into the flesh on my palm. Blood starts to drip down down out of the spaces of my fingers onto the length of my forearm. I stop for a moment, I hear a noise and look around.
"Nikki."
She races towards me and grabs my arms causing my fingers to have the attached grip removed. She has some of my blood on her hands, and I feel horrible her seeing me this way.
"Why?" I see tears run down her face. "Why do you do this to yourself, Lucas."
"I don't know," I whisper while looking away from her eyes.
She's ashamed of me. Ashamed that I am weak, and that I cannot handle myself. Each day I am losing my sanity and I don't know what to do anymore.
"You're getting help soon, okay? I called the doctor and you have a appointment tomorrow at 11.00."
"Thank y-"
She suddenly disappears. I look around me and see she is nowhere. In panic I run around my house looking everywhere hoping she is somewhere. Nothing. I slam my fist into the wall, and scream.
"Stop, stop, stop!" I feel that I am now crying and that my fingers are bruised and bloody from punching the wall. "Calm down," I tell myself, then I move away from the mess I have made.
I walk to living room, and suddenly everything around me starts to shake. I feel my body trembling with extreme force and my surroundings going to hell. I fall to the ground from the strength of the shaking. I hear someone calling my name, this voice is very familiar. It hits me.
"I'm dreaming again," I say to myself still being shook violently.
With a blink I see everything is normal now and Nikki is in front of me. She looks extremely worried, and still has stains of tears in her cheeks. I keep my blinking to a minimum, so I don't go back to that hell. If that's what causes it. Blinking, of course.
"What just happened?" I asked.
"You just kinda zoned off, I don't know it was really strange, Lucas."
"It's happening again."
"What is?"
"I can't explain, I'm sorry, but I have to go."
I run out the door, and quickly go down the steps to my car. In a matter of seconds I unlock my car, and go inside it. I start the engine, put on my seatbelt, and start to back up. In the mirror I see Nikki running towards my car.
"Lucas, come back!" She yelled.
Before she can reach the car, I am already pulled out in the road and driving away. I see her run after me for a second, but then stops and stops in the middle of the road, looking. I draw my attention away from the mirror and pay attention to the road. Where I am going, I do I don't know, but I need to just figure out exactly what is happening to me.
I drive for around fifteen minutes before I pull into diner. I decide that I should eat something since I haven't all day. I get out of my car, and walk into the diner, I haven't been here before and it's sorta strange to me because I've lived in this town for awhile now. Walking to a empty table I sit down and begin to look at the menu.
"Hello there, sir," a waitress says to me.
"Hey, nice place you got here," I reply back to her smiling.
"Best it can be. Are you ready to order?
"No, not yet. This is my first time coming in, I've lived here for awhile and I've never been here," I laugh. "Weird."
She giggles, and says "well, I will be back shortly. If you need anything just holler, my name is Kyra."
"Sure thing, Kyra."
I was looking at the menu for around ten seconds before it hit me. Kyra. That name is so familiar. Her voice, that face, so familiar, but why? Then it hits me, that deep realization that this girl is not someone I knew, but the sister of a really good friend of mine that died years, and years ago. Was this by fate? By fate to remember that horrible moment in my life by someone's sister? This is going to be a long day.
