Chapter 2

"We made a mistake. Please, don't complain about us just this time, sir."

"I want to know what happened here. When so many people are working in the kitchen, Why was only he.." Taehyung pointed to the young man in the middle of the group, but he could not find out the name of that person who was not wearing a military uniform.

After the basic training, a group selected from among the army soldiers were assigned to work in the kitchen, and they had a separate uniform. The name of the concerned person was not mentioned in that uniform like the military uniform.

Among the soldiers who are assigned to kitchen service, those who are good at cooking are chosen as chefs. Others were assigned to help them. Here, everyone had violated the duty assigned to them.

"Chef, Jeon Jungkook, sir." The pretty soldier introduced himself while giving the military salute.

"Ok, why was Chef Jungkook working alone? If Captain Choi finds out about this, all of you will definitely be severely punished." Although everyone was scared by Taehyung's statement, no one came forward to tell what happened. After a while of silence, Taehyung's patience started to wear thin. But before he could ask again, one of the soldiers offered to explain what had happened.

"Today, Chef Han and Chef Jungkook were in charge of cooking because the head chef was sick. We also heard that everyone liked Chef Jungkook's food from the first day. Chef Han was angry about it. So he didn't come today because he didn't want to work with Chef Jungkook. Chef Han ordered us not to help Chef Jungkook either."

"Oh God! You scumbags are behaving like kids! You have been entrusted with the task of preparing food for hundreds of people. Are you that dumb to act childish? That too as Army Soldiers?" Taehyung's ears were red with anger. Even his voice became rough and deep.

"Oi, yes, you! You go and tell Chef Han to come." Pointing at a soldier in front, Taehyung turned back to the others. "I can't let something like this go without complaining. I can't let what happened today happen again. Also, Chef Jungkook is new here. So everyone should help him from now on."

"Yes sir!" Since Taehyung was a platoon leader, everyone obeyed his orders.

Taehyung then looked at Jungkook who was in the middle of the soldiers. His heart filled with pride when he saw the respect in those innocent round eyes. Nodding at Jungkook, Taehyung glanced at Chef Han who came there at that moment.

"Sir!" Chef Han saluted Taehyung.

"I think you know what brought you here."

"Sir, I..." Chef Han, who had a cunning look, tried to make excuses, but Taehyung didn't allow him.

"Sergeant Hyunshik asked me to look into this. So whatever you have to say, tell Sergeant Hyunshik himself!" Taehyung snapped, Chef Han glared at Jungkook and walked out of the kitchen behind Taehyung.

Taehyung, who explained what happened to Sergeant Hyunshik and handed Chef Han over to him, came to the cafeteria to have dinner, but there was no one in the cafeteria at that time. Taehyung looked at his watch and realized that it was over an hour past dinner time.

Sighing, Taehyung started walking towards their dorm, but a voice behind him stopped him.

Turning around, Taehyung could see someone dressed in a light gray army sport kit running towards him. As the person got closer, Taehyung recognized that it was the new chef.

The pretty chef, who came running stopped in front of Taehyung and started panting. Meanwhile, Taehyung's gaze stopped on those red cheeks. Because of the extreme cold, those pale cheeks were tinted with red and even his doe eyes were covered with a film of tears and were shining like stars.

"Um.. this is for you sir." Jungkook muttered, interrupting Taehyung's thoughts as he held out the bag in his hands to him.

When Taehyung raised an eyebrow and looked at Jungkook, Jungkook bit his bottom lip slightly and looked down, understanding the question he asked with his eyes.

"Um.. because I thought yoy might not be able to have dinner.. I-I made this for you." Jungkook mumbled and signaled Taehyung to take the bag made of wool in his hand.

Looking at those rosy cheeks, Taehyung picked up the cute bag. At the same time, Jungkook, who did not delay even a moment, turned back and ran from there. Taehyung looked at his retreating figure with a slight smile, clutching the bag tightly in his hand. Then he went to the cherry tree at the end of the camp, Taehyung's favorite spot, and sat on the bench there.

Due to the moonlight and the artificial light, the place wasn't too dark. Taehyung reached into the bag in his hand and took the circular lunch box inside. Taehyung's eyes sparkled as he opened the lunch box, which was slightly warm.

"Makguksu!" Taehyung's favorite type of noodles was in it. He quickly picked up the two chopsticks that came with the lunch box and began to eat eagerly.

"Mmh" Taehyung realized that it was the tastiest makguksu he had ever eaten at the first bite.

"Ah, if you marry a chef, you can eat tasty meals for the rest of your life." Taehyung blurted out and a faint smile crossed his lips when he understood the meaning of what he had said without thinking.

That night, Taehyung laid on his uncomfortable mattress, happier than ever. Fortunately, his platoon members were fast asleep at that time, so Taehyung didn't have to explain the happy smile on his face.

Taehyung woke up the next day at 4:00 a.m. as usual. Usually, they were supposed to wake up at half past five in the morning, but Taehyung used to get up early every day and go to the gym to exercise.

As usual, Taehyung started the day with a glass of water and started running towards the gym.

Taehyung didn't see the person who ran towards him because he was deep in thought, and even though there were street lights, it was still half dark in some places.

"Ugh!" The person who bumped into Taehyung's body was thrown back. However Taehyung was quick enough to grab the person's hand.
