(This will be target more of the backstory before Yuki was ever a detective)

Chief Jeremy cast a weary glance at the weathered diary lying open on his cluttered desk. The weight of its contents bore heavily upon him, shrouding his demeanor in a cloak of guilt and apprehension. His gaze flickered to the faces of Yuki and Jelly, his loyal companions, their eyes ablaze with a mix of curiosity and accusation.

Yuki snapped her fingers sharply, her demand cutting through the tense silence like a knife. "You owe us answers, Chief. Tell us what you know," she insisted, her fists clenched in determination. However, her resolve faltered as she caught sight of a faded photograph nestled among the desk. A poignant reminder of Jeremy's past, of a partnership lost to time.

"You won't speak, Chief?" Yuki's voice softened as she lifted the photograph, her eyes glistening with unspoken emotions. "Then do it for him. Confess the truth that he was never able to reveal."

Jeremy met her gaze, his inner turmoil laid bare as he took a sip of whiskey, the burn of the alcohol failing to dull the ache in his heart. Sensing the gravity of the moment, Jelly, interjected with a plea born of familial love. "Jeremy, you owe us this. Honour his memory, honor our bond."

With a heavy sigh, Jeremy relented, his voice tinged with resignation. "Very well," he began, the words laden with the weight of untold secrets. "It all started on the fateful night we stumbled upon the lifeless body of Thaddeus Hendricks," he confessed, his narrative unfolding like a dark tapestry of betrayal and intrigue.

In the Past. On a rainy evening, Detective Jeremy sat in his car outside a diner, the droplets creating a rhythmic melody on the windshield. Inside, his partner Detective Nisbet was engrossed in a conversation with a young woman, his carefree smile lighting up the dimly lit diner.

Growing impatient, Jeremy laid on the horn, interrupting the cozy scene inside. Nisbet emerged, using his coat to shield himself from the rain, his signature bowler hat perched jauntily on his head.

"Can't risk my hat getting wet, can I?" Nisbet quipped, a playful glint in his eye as he settled into the passenger seat.

Jeremy wasted no time, starting the car with a sense of urgency. "The Chief wanted us at warehouse 17 hours ago. We're late," he stated firmly, his demeanor reflecting his dedication to duty.

Nisbet reclined in his seat, a mischievous smile playing on his lips. "You need to lighten up, Jeremy. Life's too short to be so serious all the time," he remarked before a sudden fit of coughing seized him, prompting him to cover his mouth with a napkin.

Concern etched on his face, Jeremy glanced at his ailing partner. "How bad is it getting?" he inquired, his worry palpable in his voice.

After composing himself, Nisbet wiped his mouth with a tissue and cast it out the window. "This might just be my final case," he confessed quietly, his words hanging heavy in the air, a somber reminder of mortality in the midst of their dangerous profession.

Outside warehouse 17, the rain continued to fall relentlessly as Detectives Jeremy and Nisbet parked their car and stepped out into the chilling night. The ominous sight of the doors left slightly ajar immediately caught Nisbet's attention, prompting him to draw his handgun while Jeremy cautiously approached the entrance.

As Jeremy pushed open the doors, a beam of light pierced the darkness as Nisbet flicked on his flashlight, illuminating a gruesome tableau before them. A lifeless body hung upside down, a grotesque wound carving a path down his chest, his disemboweled form a macabre display of violence.

"I believe we've found Thaddeus Hendricks," Jeremy announced, his voice tinged with grim certainty. "He was reported missing just last night."

Nisbet's sharp eyes caught sight of a tray littered with bloodstained surgical instruments, a chilling testament to the brutality of the crime. "Whoever did this certainly took pleasure in their handiwork," he observed, his gaze scanning the scene for any potential leads.
