It's been two years since the apocalypse started. Seraphina was running down a street, her long black hair was now cut into a short Bob. Her clothes were old, ripped, and blood stained. She darted between abandoned cars and rubble, her heart pounding with each step. The once bustling city now lay in ruins, overrun by scavengers and mutated creatures. Seraphina's only goal was to find a safe haven, a place where she could catch her breath and perhaps find others who had managed to survive the devastation. But as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting eerie shadows across the broken landscape, she knew that the night would bring its own set of dangers, and her journey was far from over.

Seraphina held a bloody machete as she ran past many zombies, slashing the ones that crossed her path as she ran. Her heart raced with fear and adrenaline, but her focus remained unwavering. With each swing of the weapon, she felt a sense of empowerment surge through her. The metallic scent of blood filled the air as she fought her way through the horde, her only goal to survive against all odds.

As Seraphina ran, she saw a boy who looked around her age running away from a horde of zombies. Without a second thought, she changed her course towards him, determined to help. The boy glanced back in terror, his eyes meeting hers for a brief moment before he stumbled and fell. Seraphina quickly reached his side, pulling him up with urgency as the zombies closed in. "We have to keep moving," she urged, knowing that their survival depended on sticking together and finding a way out of the relentless danger that surrounded them.

Seraphina and the boy ran for what felt like hours up until they reached a house in the middle of nowhere, it seemed safe, its walls standing strong against the howling wind and the looming shadows of the night. With each step closer, relief flooded their weary bodies, knowing they had finally found refuge from the dangers lurking in the wilderness. They approached the door, hearts pounding, and knocked, hoping for sanctuary and a respite from their tumultuous journey.

The door creaked open slowly, revealing a dimly lit interior. Seraphina and the boy exchanged a cautious glance before stepping inside, their senses on high alert. The room was sparse but cozy, with flickering candlelight casting dancing shadows on the walls. Spider webs hung from the walls and ceiling.

No one was inside. Seraphina and the boy walked around the house, their footsteps echoing in the empty rooms. Every creak of the floorboards seemed to amplify the silence, sending shivers down Seraphina's spine. She glanced nervously at the boarded-up windows, hoping against hope that there were no zombies lurking within. All she wanted was a moment of respite from the chaos outside, but it seemed even the abandoned house held its own unsettling mysteries.

Once Seraphina and the boy cleared the house, they sat on the couch in the living room, the worn fabric offering a small semblance of comfort amidst the uncertainty. Seraphina let out a sigh of relief, her tense muscles finally relaxing as she leaned back against the cushions. The boy sat beside her, silent but visibly relieved to have found a temporary sanctuary from the dangers outside. Despite the lingering fear of what may still lurk in the shadows, for now, they were grateful for this brief moment of calm.

"What's your name?" Seraphina asks the boy and he looked at her funny and spoke gently "Sera it's me, Josh don't you remember?" Seraphina then froze and started to remember something.

~flashback to when Seraphina was 15~

Seraphina was going to a party with her best friend. They were dressed up beautifully, Seraphina wore a black short dress that accentuated her curves, paired with sleek heels that clicked with each step. Her hair cascaded in soft waves down her back, framing her delicate features. Her friend, on the other hand, opted for a vibrant red gown that commanded attention, her confidence radiating with every move. As they stepped into the night, laughter and music filling the air, Seraphina couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement mingled with anticipation for the adventures that awaited them.

A while later during the party, a boy around 16 came up to Seraphina and asked her to dance. With a smile, she accepted his invitation, feeling a rush of exhilaration as they moved together to the rhythm of the music. Their steps synchronized effortlessly, and Seraphina found herself getting lost in the moment, the rest of the world fading away as she focused on the boy's captivating gaze. For a brief interlude, everything else ceased to matter as they twirled and swayed on the dance floor, enveloped in the enchantment of the night.

The boy spoke softly as he looked into Seraphina's eyes. "I'm Josh," he said with a warm smile, "it's nice to meet you." Seraphina returned his smile, feeling a sense of ease wash over her as she introduced herself in turn. They continued to dance, exchanging light conversation between the music's beats, their connection growing with each passing moment. In Josh's presence, Seraphina felt a spark of something new and exciting, a feeling she couldn't quite put into words but cherished nonetheless.

Later that night, they were sitting outside on the roof of the house, watching the stars together. The cool night air wrapped around them, and the twinkling stars painted a mesmerizing tapestry across the sky. Seraphina leaned back against the roof tiles, feeling a sense of peace wash over her as she gazed up at the vast expanse above. Beside her, Josh pointed out constellations, his voice soft against the backdrop of the night. In that moment, surrounded by the beauty of the universe, Seraphina felt an indescribable connection with Josh, as if they were two souls intertwined in the fabric of time and space.

Josh then leaned over and looked at Seraphina. She then sat up and locked eyes with Josh, feeling her heart skip a beat at the intensity of their gaze. In that silent exchange, a world of unspoken emotions passed between them, their connection deepening with each passing moment. Seraphina could feel the warmth of Josh's presence enveloping her, igniting a sense of longing and excitement within her. It was as if the universe had aligned to bring them together in that fleeting, magical moment atop the roof, under the canopy of stars. They then leaned in about to kiss..
