"...That is, if you wish to accept" The black of his teeth peek through his full lips as he mutters quietly in that ever so deceitful tone. Offering, like he already knew I would feel obligated to accept - to prove a point to him.

His eyes flick past my shoulder, hardening as they lands on Raedan's form. I follow it, met with the feeble act of him brushing the sand off of his knees as he stands, suddenly recovering quickly from his sulking when in the line of sight of Feyd - intimidated by the presence alone.

I meet Rae's eyes, almost begging me not to upstage him through accepting the offer. I shake my head at him softly as a silent reply, a flash of betrayal on his face coming and leaving quickly.

This was an opportunity for me and I wasn't going to miss it.

An opportunity to prove that I wasn't going to be compliant in his goal to scare me.

I wouldn't be easily defeated in his little game that I was being forced to play.

I turn away from both men, reaching behind my back once again. Taking small patient steps while pulling my blade from it's sheath, holding it in my hand loosely as my thumb traces along the intricate designs carved into the metal. Hearing a quiet snicker underneath Feyd's breathe in reply to my silent acceptance of his proposal.

I circle back round to face Feyd, who now stands a couple metres away with an animalistic look of excitement plastered onto his face - blade moulded tightly into his own hand; polished clean from his previous kill, waiting to be tarnished by blood once again.

Hesitation swirls in my head suddenly. The memory of the man gurgling and retching on his own blood as he squirmed around frantically in the sand repeats in my mind. The man and blade that plague this memory now stand ahead in preparation to generate a similar demise to myself.

I knew he wasn't allowed to kill me due to formalities. However I was well aware, that rule wouldn't stop him from harming me in ways that pushed the limits of his jurisdiction. Bloodshed was to be expected in this fight.

Observing Feyd, I bring my knife up to my shoulder, then to the crown of my head. The outline of Raedan's figure in the corner of my eye, standing patiently, anticipating what was to come.

"May thy knife, chip and shatter." My voice having an edge of tentativeness to it but my stance stays strong and secure.

"...May thy knife...chip...and shatter..." He replies playfully with a smirk, a hint of expected confusion in his tone at the traditional custom phrase.

This is far from a fair fight...

Feyd sprints towards me. I stay still, waiting for him to reach me, analysing his movements to try source a flaw in his charge - somewhere I could strike that would likely give me the upper hand.

Reaching me in seconds, he raises his knife in his right hand, ready to sink it into the pale skin of my neck. I catch his wrist, holding it tightly between my hand as his blade comes to a halt only inches away from my face. I use all my strength to propel his hand to the left and away from my exposed skin.

Expecting this to happen, his free hand shoots up and clenches around the length of my neck - driving me backwards onto the balls of my feet. I could already imagine the outline of his fingers imprinted onto my skin, a deep plum coloured bruise developing once he released me from his death grip. Marking me as his trophy.

My grip on the handle of my knife tightens in preparation. I guide it quickly along the outside of his forearm, before plunging it into the pale waxy skin. His grasp on my neck faulters from the shock of the unexpected assault. Acting swiftly and taking advantage of his surprise; I direct my head back and shoot it forward towards him. A deafening crack echoes between our bodies as my forehead makes contact with the bridge of his nose. Feyd stumbles back at the sharp blow. Blood immediately flooding down his nose and pooling at his lips, staining his milky skin a dark shade of red.
