Ayan's POV
As the clock strikes 3 am, marking the end of my shift, I reflect on the long and arduous 9-hour surgery I performed earlier in the day. Exhaustion weighs heavily upon me as I embark on the journey home, my mind grappling with the sheer intensity of the day's events.
With droplets of rain cascading down the windshield, my tired eyes strain to navigate through the dimly lit streets. The rhythmic patter of rain against the car's exterior serves as a soothing backdrop to my weary thoughts.
Upon reaching the solace of my home, I waste no time in seeking the comfort of a hot shower. Despite the relentless downpour outside, the warmth of the water offers respite to my weary body. With each drop, it's as though the tension of the day is slowly washed away.
Emerging from the shower, I hastily change into comfortable attire, eager to sink into the welcoming embrace of my bed. As I reach for my phone, the date displayed at the top catches my attention - December 8th. Three days left, I remind myself.
As I scrolled through the gallery, as was my usual habit, I found myself ensnared by images from a decade past. Those deep, expressive brown eyes, framed by a pair of irresistibly soft lips and flushed cheeks, never failed to captivate me, even after the passage of ten long years. It was as though time stood still in those moments frozen in pixels. Despite the years that had come and gone, I realized I hadn't moved on-not in a million years, it seemed.
I need to leave early tomorrow for a out of town small drive to meet up with a friend. His cat had given birth and I had to give it to someone special. It is a british shorthair. Good timing you may say? Well little do you know I've been planning this for over a couple months. It was all supposed to happen this way
Next day
'That...is a lot of kittens. how is the mom even okay, bro?', I ask, taking one kitten in my hands, quite alarmed at the fact the mama cat keeps looking at me scarily.
'Well, there's actually one more...it's currently sleeping over there. All it does is feed on mom and sleep to be honest' Ryan-- my friend adds as he chuckles. i look over at the peacefully sleeping kitten-- it looked so peaceful without a worry in the world. Something clicked the moment i saw it. 'That's it!' i say.
'What'
'Yup...I'll be having that one' i repeat confidently as he gives me surprised look.
As I journeyed homeward with the cat snuggled safely in the passenger seat beside me, a sense of warmth enveloped me, buoyed by the anticipation of her reaction. Imagining the sheer joy illuminating her face was enough to keep a grin steadfastly etched on mine. That smile of hers, so incredibly precious, wielded a profound influence over me that I found impossible to resist.
With meticulous attention, I had gathered all the essential items to guarantee the kitten's safety and comfort for the forthcoming couple of nights before I executed my plan. From a snugly bed to an array of toys and nourishment, every detail was meticulously arranged. I was steadfast in my resolve to make these initial moments with her as inviting and reassuring as humanly possible.
For her sake, I was prepared to go to any lengths, to undertake whatever measures necessary to ensure that radiant smile remained a constant presence on her visage. I stood ready to undertake whatever was required to safeguard her happiness and well-being..
