I couldn't run for much longer, I was doing my best to dodge branches and trees with the little light the moon provided.

My body was seconds from giving out, the burning sensation from my lungs and legs urging me to stop and rest, but the small beating of her heart nudged me on.

I could hear them behind me, the howls and grunts of the mutts chasing me. I had taken her from them. She didn't belong with those beasts, and they were getting closer.

My heart froze as I landed straight into a dead end. We were trapped.
