7x05 station 19

The beloved 'Space Needle' in Seattle was set ablaze and that's when 19 was called to attend the scene and to try and recover the tower.

It has been over 3 hours since Station 19 began to obtain the fire but it quickly raised from a 3 alarm to a 4 and this meant that Bishop had to be called in from her maternity leave. Carina wasn't happy that her wife was called in and leave her with Liam on her own while she worried for Maya's safety but at the end of the day it is her job to do. Protect the city. Protect Liam.

That was going through Maya's head while she was about 500 ft in the air was she HAD to get back to her family- her wife and her son. Maya has changed greatly from wanting to be in the clouds where she could be at peace to not wanting to leave Liam and Carina and being terrified to die. This was a big improvement and anyone around Maya saw it and Carina is so proud of her wife and how far she has come and so has the 19 family.

The tower ricocheted with echoes of things collapsing and Maya's team shouting, along with Herrera- 19's captain shouting orders at them. The fire just kept getting worse and worse to the point that the floor was beginning for cave in and the visibility was close to none.

"Cap!"

The urgency in her friend's voice caused Andy to hold her breath.

"Yes Bishop?"

The heavy breathing that came through the radio caused the captains heart rate to go up.

"The top floor is about cave in cap!"

Andy's heart sunk- that was the floor that she ordered Maya to go to.

"Maya get out of there now!"

Andy ordered everyone to their own floor because the chief gave her no choice by cutting their budget to the point where she had barely any firefighters left or the right equipment. They wasn't even a station anymore, the budget has demolished that station and now it might have just demolished the people too by sending them up a sky scraper- may as well be a suicide.

Andy was panicking- she knew she should've fought harder against Ross about just letting the tower safely burn because it was to dangerous to send anyone up there. However, Ross didn't want to ruin HER reputation by letting it go so she had to be the 'saviour' of this story.

Grunts could be heard over the radio.

"Cap! I can't get down, the stairs is blocked and so is the elevator. I- I- I'm stuck."

When Maya finished speaking the rest of 19 emerged from the building and towards their captain looking drained.

Everyone was safe, everyone but Maya.

"Oh my god-"

Andy covered her mouth to hold a sob and brought the radio up to her mouth.

"Maya! Maya! Do you copy?"

Maya up on the top floor collapsed on floor leaning against the wall. "Yeah Andy I copy."

"You're going get out of there alive, do you hear me! You are going to go home to your wife and son and you are going to be FINE!"

By this time everyone surrounded Andy in shock that one of their family members is stuck in the burning sky scraper with no exists.

"Andy-"

Maya was cut off by explosions.

Everyone gasped holding their hands the their face.

"Andy tell Carina and Liam I love them and I love you guys, you guys are my family and i'm so sorry for all the shitty things I've done. I'm sorry Chief and Sullivan I should have never done that to you both, I guess I get my karma now."

The raspy chuckle at the end was soon followed by one great explosion and silenced them all as they watched the 'Space Needle' crash to the ground leaving dust covering the whole off Seattle.

Andy dropped to the floor with heart breaking sobs, along with the rest of 19 that were crying, grieving the loss of a family member.

Ross who was sat in a fire engine held back a sob as she heard Bishops finale words. She watched as the whole of Station 19 drop to the floor in heartbreak and all she could do is watch with guilt.

Carina was sat at home anxiously watching the news with baby Liam in her arms waiting for a message of her wife and her son's mother that she is okay.

But that reply never came.

Carina watched as dust covered Seattle and she couldn't wait anymore- she dropped Liam off at Amelia's house who gladly took him while Carina went to find Maya.

Arriving at the scene, Carina scanned the area before catching the back of Andy- Maya's best friend.

Carina barged past the police with no care in the world just looking for her wife to see that she is safe.

She soon noticed the heartbreak on 19's face and it was the same one they had on when Dean had died.

"No."

Carina says in disbelief as Andy slowly got up to approach her best friend's wife.

"Carina-"

The Italian quickly cut of the captain.

"No. Maya is fine, stop acting like she's died. She is not dead!"

All Andy could do is just look at Carina with tears none stop coming down her face while she let her digest the traumatic news.

Carina collapsed on the floor waiting in pain and grief off her wife not being there.

Andy joined her on the floor and catches a glimpse of Ross and scoffs.

She's not the 'hero' in this story she's the villian.

May 25th was the day that Carina and the family of Station 19 got to say their last goodbye to Maya.

"Have you ever experienced pain worry or loss? Have you ever experienced trauma? Have you ever experienced doubt? Of course you have. Everyone has. We all live through things that test us. It's how we each cope, how we process, that says the most. Do we face our pain and own it or are we more comfortable living in denial?"

"When a firefighter dies the toll on the bell represents their last alarm. Once the bell rings, it can't be un-rung. There's no more denying it. The end it here. The bell rings to say that the shift is over. The bell has rung to say goodbye. The bell rings to say it's time to go home."
